I am trying to work out how the get the steeering lock out on an LH..Max Ellerys book is a gem...on page 382 I think...it says do this like in Pic 13..problem is there is no Pic 13!..
Any quick directions?..

The hole is often covered with a thin layer of casting that can be removed with a small screwdriver.

Do you need to have the key in to remove the barrel? I don't have a key for mine.

I think you do. It needs to be in the off position from memory to allow you to depress the latch as shown in ls2lxhatch's photo.
Having said that, you'd think there must be another way to remove the lock for people in the same situation as you Yella.

I took out the passenger door lock and got a key made to fit that, but guess what, it don't fit the ignition!!!! What would the odds be? Oh, I don't think the previous person trying to get it out by sticking a screwdriver into it is helping much!!!!

i thought there was 3 keys anyhow, door, boot and ignition
