The upgrade was basically met out of desire to combat the lack of flexibility of the original system:
1. Compressor would needlessly be momentarily engaged if using the heater or flow through
2. Refrigerated air only available at centre outlet, not at screen or floor
3. Recirc only functioning with refrigerated air.
4. Fan would be going even if just ram air was enough through heater core
The materials needed:
One t-piece connection for vac line.
Three switches, Ive used vb-vc commodore rocker switches which should look okay if put in the dash, they look factory on the UC centre panel.
One electric operated vacuum switch.......these can be sourced cheaply wreckers.....ideal device is the one that was fitted to the emission control engines to control vac advance to the distributor. I have mounted this to the directly to the same bolt as the vac servo on the recirc flap. The connections are as in the diagram. The line must be blocked off at connection 4 on the central vac switch. It is not clear from the diagram whether the "air inlet door" or "internal door" is the servo at the recirc snorkel, Ive assumed the latter, the elec vac switch must go in the line going to the vac servo at the recirc flap.
