Hi helpful crew of GMH Torana. Does anyone have a picture from a manual that shows how to setup the cable clutch for a 6 cyl with aussie 4 speed? I have one on my LX and it just seems to not function properly. I have tried many times to adjust it, but it either doesnt engage the clutch enough and crunches the gears or it feels like I have to push it so hard that the cable will snap. At the moment the clutch pedal sits about half to an inch higher than the brake pedal and I can only push it half way to the floor before the cable feels like its going to let go. It still doesnt seem like its engaging enough either. The clutch is less than 10,000kms old and it was pulled from another Torana that was functioning fine. I will upload some pics shortly of how its currently setup.

I have seen pics where there is a bracket mounting off the front of the brake booster, but my cable just goes straight into the firewall.

OK Here are some pics of my setup. As you can see the clutch pedal sits way higher than the brake pedal.

Adjust it at the pedal first to get the right pedal height and movement, then adjust it at the box, cable may be stretched?

The threaded platic nut on the end of the cable, and also the clutch fork pivot ball has an adjustment on it.

I think I have found my clutch issue. Can you get more than one size of thrust bearing for the aussie for speed, for 6 cyl? I ask, because the one I just pulled out of my trans doesnt look right and appears to be too small where the clutch fork slides into. When pushing on the clutch the fork, twists a bit and fouls on the bell housing. I am hoping there is a bigger one and thats what the issue could be. I have attached some photos. Please let me know if you think this is the wrong size bearing.

All fixed!! The issue was not the bearing but the arm. One of the pins had the end shamfered off on an angle. Looks like it was from years of incorrect use. Did a temp fix until I can try and get myself a new arm, but gee, its really nice to have a clutch again!

That bearing doesn't look right. I think it should be more like this one form a V8 cable set up, you might want to look at a WB 6 cyl cable clutch bearing.

All I can help you with is that you are correct and there are different thrust bearings.

I can tell you that the part No. for Aussie with blue/black bellhousing/flywheel is TK45-4BU3

A clutch kit part number can be completely different for a Holden due only to the thrust bearing.

The blue/black bellhousings are different to red due to the bigger clutch cover/pressure plate.

From what I have gathered (not conclusive though) is that the full cable forks for Holden six appear to be the same. Blue/black 4 speed and torquemaster are at least. Not sure about red 4 speed or B/W 5 speed?

thanks for the pics turbo. I knew there was different ones but of course the plebs at the local
parts shop insist that there is only one type. I think next time I will go for the WB one. Certainly looks to be the one I need.
I need to get a new arm next time too.

I relised that you'd fixed your problem :spoton: after I'd posted.

Rather than edit, I thought the info might be of use to others that are mixing and matching red, black and blue clutch and flywheel components.

I had a bit of drama myself building the Grease Slapper, more to do with the clutch cable which also come in different lengths across the models.

Even though it's fixed for now, the info is still valuable to know. I'm sure it will
be handy to others too.

I have an MC6 in my car, not an Aussie. When I got a replacement clutch, the thrust bearing was wrong for my clutch fork. Was not a nice snug fit like my old one and was missing a bit of a 'flange'. I meant to get a comparison pic but I forgot to. I ended up just cleaning up and re-using the old thrust bearing, but yeah there are definately different ones for different vehicles.

I get all my bearings form a bearing place, most of the auto shops wanted about $66-$89 for the thrust bearing where as the

bearing place was $30 and let me take home 3 different bearing to see which one fitted best then just take back the others.
