Gday guys,I am hoping to get the S.L.R bodywork done and painted at the start of next year but I am still unsure of what paint scheme to go for????. At the moment its "Barbados Green" but the original colour is the darker green,I think its called "MINT JEWELUP" spelling? now the Paint code on my plates has this number: 568-17779 can anyone confirm this colour??.

The trim code is: 1915-18X unsure of this too? but the interior needs a workover too(at a later date) I am told the trim on my seats, you can no longer get that material??.

As for the Colour of the car I wanted to go for that light blue colour that LX Hatches are seen in sometimes?I really dont know what its called but retain the blackouts on the car as it is now.My brother(a holden fanatic) and many others are telling me to paint the S.L.R the original colour it came out in but I am not a fan of that darker green"Jewelup"? and would probably not be happy with it in that colour???.It is an original S.L.R and I would really like the opinions of you guys on here who are much more knowleged than me on this........................Scotty

Heres what she looks like now,I dont mind the BARBADOS GREEN but I would prefer a nice light blue with blackouts but many are saying go with the "original"factory colour scheme? HMMMMMMM what to do?

76SLR,

It might be worthwhile keeping the original colour considering it is an original SLR.. but like smeer said, you have to live with it, and it needs to be your decision.. Talk to Heath about mint julep, he has one that colour, I'm surprised he hasn't been here and put his 2C worth in already... lol..
Good luck with it and keep us informed of your progress.

Cheers, Julz.

Slate black vinyl with cloth insert is still readily available. I agree ultimately make the decision for yourself rather than others. In terms of restoration then Mint julep would give you the best return. Followed by an original colour for that range. My personal favourite for a 4 door LX sedan would be Super Mint :D However i think Mint julep is very nice.

Well mate, the paint thats on her now is still pretty damn good(BUT) it is in need of a lot of work that needs done that cant be see from my pic!!. She has quite a bit of rust reapairs that need doing (around back window, both quarter panel bottoms, bottom of one fender, entire beaver panel under rear bumper is stuffed, around rear wheel arches.

Nose Cone is rubbish(I have another to go on),Bonnet needs replacing so I have another of them too thats going on so its going to be very costly unfortunately  and want to make the best choice with regards to the colour chosen

If you want maximum resale value on the car, paint it as per the compliance plates. Otherwise, paint it whatever you want. I personally would paint it as per the compliance plates if I had something collectable.

Mint julep looks like a sweet colour. But if you want a light blue, then go for your life mate. Agree with other's sentiments that even though it will change the value, an SLR is an SLR (so it might not be that much? especially since the respray will bring the body back to A1 condition).

Secondly, your going to be the one that lives with it. Heres a hot blue colour, that I found, I don't know its name/paint code sorry!

Imagine change of colour is going to be a lot more expensive, unless you were going to strip the whole lot back to metal anyway. If just basic repaint, need to change colour on all inside of doors, door jams hinges...........engine bay, inside boot lid..........everything.

It sounds like he wants to change colour anyway. Either back to original Mint julep or to a Light Blue...

Well guys,That pic JBIRD posted is just the colour I had in mind!! :D pitty I dont know the colours specs?? and yes regardless if I go Blue or Mint Julep its going to have to have a "FULL"colour change anyway as its all "Barbados Green" at the moment anyway.

I am still undecided what do do but have time to think about my choice of colour

hehe it isn't even all of them. That's just one good quality photo from most of the cars that I have a few photos of. But I think it will be sufficient.

Is there any other way to be? :spoton:

BTW, to all of those people who reckon Mint Julip and metallic blue "would look hideous together" - yes, I've had countless people actually tell me that; very inspirational ey? :<_<: - please look at this picture and ask yourself that again:

I generally think that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but if there is any one person on this forum who doesn't think that is one of the sexiest vehicles ever built, I believe you have a problem
