The latest Xtreme Holdens mag, besides having L8 on the cover (plus an in-depth 10 page article with some very flattering studio pics and a liftout centre page), also has a good article Peter Childs's very trick looking Mr LX.

Yes, Broads aka Shrek is now the Editor. His car was on display next to mine at the recent MotorEx show. There was a pic of Shrek on the 'Offtopic' MotorEx post.

^ I've always wondered that, too.

I've seen an SS badge on a UC sedan...

Hmmm, the old 'SS badge on the sedan' question....

Well, its like this. I was in the Rare Spares Brunswick(?) store back in about 1982 and I saw the badge in their display counter for $20. I thought, "gee that's close to mandarin red and it could mean Sports Sedan" so I bought it and its been on the car ever since...

Ahhh HA! I always thought the SS stood for Silly Sausage. Thanks for setting me straight.

Looking forward to picking up a copy of the mag ;)

You'd be the first Territorian ever to admit that! I can't stand this place! :gun:
I looked in some news agencies this afternoon, trying some bigger ones tomorrow, I want this magazine! I should really subscribe, that will solve the problem.

If Australia was invaded it would be from Darwin first .....

This months Xtreme Holdens was okay... I think that tech article (big brakes on a commodore) was pretty tight arse and just a re-hash of stuff they do in Street Commodores, same with the seat tech article!

I guess the saving grace of this month was Howards Litre8. The 10 page write up was excellent...and finally a spec sheet that has all the specs. Usually people with such modded up cars try to keep info away from people and don't really fully list things in the spec sheet.

Went to the newsagent yesterday arvo, still no magazine! :furious: I'll say it again....BLOODY DARWIN!!! But I did get to pick up the previous issue, Xtreme Holdens No. 4. I didn't know these magazines exsited.
Just a tiny question, is that yellow 76 LX SS hatch a forum member here, and if so, has he got his build project plan up? I was interested to see how he arranged his console, but the article just touched on it, and the picture is too small, for my blind dog eyes!

bought it yesterday, a few good plugs for GMH-torana in there howard!! nice. and the sticker on the back 1/4 window works too.

didnt realise when i saw this car a few years back that it was so dam good, (wasnt a big fan of late toranas) but after reading all this im amazed, so ahead of the time it was built (in all its forms) and technically perfect (or close)

the one thing i must ask is why no taxi bar in the back?

The harnesses connect back to the bar across the rear parcel shelf (welded between the rear arms of the cage). That seemed to be the norm back then and carrying rear seat passengers wasnt a priority (leg room limited with the cross bar between the centre hoop legs.)
