Was thinking bout puting the commodore 3.8 V6 in my 4cyl Lj
any 1 know what needs doing to make this work or if it fits in the 4cyl (short front/stubbie nose)
room ? springs ? sump ? mounts ? etc....
most of all how bout the gear box that gos with the V6 will that fit ?
REMEMBER ITS A 4cyl Lj With the short front !

Don't know if it's been done in a four cylinder bay (definately a six though).
I'm most of the way there installing one in my hatch. The t700 fits in the LX's transmission tunnel (not a lot of room) - I don't think it would fir in an LJ without some modification to the tunnel (Don't quote me on that though).
You'll need mounts, probably a different/modified sump, different exhaust to incorporate the cat convertors, electric fuel pump, probably a B&M shifter (no room for linkages) and other little parts. Obviously you'll need to upgrade your brakes and get it engineered afterwards. (talk to an engineer beforehand to see exactly what would it needs for it to pass...

Have you thought about a nissan sr20? might be an easier fit

yeah i know it will be tight more so the gear box in the tunnel
has any 1 got a T700 box in an Lc Lj six ?
What is the nissen sr20 out of ? i know the V6 and have lots of spares

sr20 is out of a few things.
FWD in pulsar and exa
RWD in 180sx, 200sx
AWD in Gti=R
they could be in more but thats all i can think off, They are very good engines.
I was considering one for my Lj or Lc but have decided on a 190kw alloytech.

we have transplanted a 3.8l v6 into my sisters lc we just bought the Pat Gardner conversionthe website is www.v6conversion.com.au it has everything you need to know

Was the kit for a 4cyl model though? Ive got a v6 set up at home that I was thinking of putting in a gemini,but a 4cyl body might be just as much fun.
