Rory,

Holden rocket red is an orangy/ red colour

I recently bought a spray can- it is a "Power Plus" product.

It wasnt easy to find as Supercheap & pother places didnt stock it (In Sydney anyway).

I found it at AutoOne.

The details on the cap of teh spray can are as follows,

PowerPlus- PP438, Engine Enamel Holden Rocket Red.

Cheers

Hi

There is also K+H Brand (made in Australia) Rocket Red (AE389) that I bought from AutoBarn here in Vic.

Rocket Red is the GMH colour 10890 that was used on the '70s era red 6 cylinders . The aftermarket colour seems to me a little more orange and brighter than I recall the original - but it is a long time since anyone saw a brand new motor ex factory.

Yeah got VHT,Septone and Power Plus...all are orange/Chevy Red/Rocket Red....Its pretty orange...will probably settle down with some heat. In fact they are that close you would think they were all from the same can.

Yeah That looks like the one I've got Bullit. I have to duck to Bris but will put up a pick tomorrow of the VN tappet covers when they are dry.

Gday rorym
I had a 78 block with good original paint so I did some test strips
of the different Rocket, Holden reds & Chev orange pressure packs
around down the side of the block.
When I peeled back the masking tape the closest strip to the block
shade I reckoned was Holts Dupli- color engine enamel Rocket Red
CEE 2512. It was slightly more red than orange compared to the others.

OK..The one on the left is Dulux Duplicolour...the one on the right is VHT ...I decided on the VHT as it is more easily available when I need to do the heads and block. As you can see it is a fraction more red than the other one.
