I have painted 3 cars myself, and all have been metallic/pearl. And all came up great!
I would say, paint it something BRIGHT! Yellows, Oranges, Greens, Blues, Reds, Purples etc etc! But A Torana looks SHIT HOT when painted up bright!

+1If you paint a metallic it is very hard to match if repairs are needed, go a solid colour if its a daily or your first car.

Thats a nice green but a little too much blue in it, more gold is wat it needs.

That green is NICE! One of the best i have seen. Always liked Coral green i think it was called. Use to see it on HZ Kingswoods. What about this Green?

If you screw up the metallic you just block it back and respray again. Not that big a deal, but if you're not good, your metallic will really look like it was sprayed by a n00b.

Find your favourite colour and paint that! There are awesome solid colours and pearl/metallic colours...
