It's a flat head rivet, the head app. 1/2" across and the shank app. 5/16"
This pic isn't too good, I can maybe get a better one in daylight and measure more exactly.

Same boat here mate ! damn panel shops from the 70's-80's-90's & 00's they probably destroyed them trying to remove them ! I'll have a look at my original Lc 4 door and see if it's got any genuine ones left !

Hi

Someone on this forum was actually making these some time ago. If I recall correctly, they looked the part from above but below it had a nut securing it.

Best way I could describe them is a clevis pin with a hollowed out section on the end that gets bellowed out to stop it comming out.

You could use a bolt with a nyloc nut.
Or cut down a clevis pin, drill a counter sink hole in the end and re-rivet.
(Available at Bunnings, Repco, Bursons in Champion packs)
Or get a bolt with the right size shank, mount it in your drill, mount your drill in the vice, turn the drill on and shape the head with the angle grinder.
I made this the same way, it is a fuel tank outlet:

If your not warried about originallity a simple clevis pin will do the job. You will need one with a 6.3mm shank and it needs to be about 17mm long. You could either centrepunch the bottom to stop it comming out or drill it and put a small split pin through.

hi
i removed both of mine using vise grips to crimp them back so they will slide out, gently using a clip remover and a small engineers hammer you tap them up untill they are out ,its alot of fkn around but the end result looks alot better when put back in, then using nuts and bolts
