Hi guys, My Brown Davis tank has a 1/2" pick up but its up high, Is this normal? I would have thought it be at bottom of the tank.
Cheers

Hi Matt,

I could imagine, up high, meaning you would run out of fuel, when you still have fuel in the Tank,

have you used the Tank yet?

The Fuel sender float, probably goes from empty to full levels.

Do you have a picture to show us.

The 1/2" line (red plastic cap) is mounted above the factory sender mount however it should run down inside the tank to a swirl pot at the bottom towards the rear. If you look through the factory sender hole you should be able to see the 1/2" line. I assume that it is mounted above the factory sender so that the line comes out close to where the factory line ran.

This is a photo taken from a video inside the Brown Davis tank. It shows the 1/2" line in a Brown Davis swirl pot which is basically a box around 200 mm x 200 mm x 50 mm with a couple of holes in it for the fuel to flow when the fuel level is low. You can see one of the fill holes to the left of the pickup.

I ordered a Brown Davis tank with 1/2" pickup and swirl pot.

The little cap is the 1/2" pickup, it just looks small in the photo. You can see a large red cap plugging the hole where the factory sender/pickup mounts.

This is the brown davis tank without a 1/2" pickup.

This angle shows a bit more of the 1/2" pickup.

This is the picture of Matt's tank. It is similar to mine but instead Brown Davis have welded a -8 fitting to the end of the 1/2" pickup. If you remove the factory sender and have a look inside you should be able to see a -8 tube running from the fitting to the bottom of the tank. You could just weld a -8 fitting at the bottom of the tank without a pickup tube but then fuel would be able to run away from the fitting on acceleration.

This is the inside the tank I built. You can see the fuel tube and AN fittings.

I looked inside my BD tank with a scope & couldn't see anything except a baffle or the walls of the surge tank.

My question is, if everything staying stock with straps will fit straight on.
