I recently purchased my LX SLR 5000 last Oct from Tassie. The letter from GMH states that it was one of the first LX SLR 5000's built as its build date is 02 Feb 76. It also came with an auto from the factory. The motor got rebuilt recently (330fwhp) and because of this a Muncie 4 speed & disc brake 9 inch was installed to handle the extra ponies. In some was I wish it still had the original running gear as originality is what most people are after these days - but I can always change it back later.
The car is a dream to drive & pulls like a 14 year old boy. It is excellant on fuel (about the same as a V6 Commodore) & gets looks every where it goes in Wodonga, Vic. Disregard the different coloured air cleaner stickers - it was like this when I purchased the car & will be rectified soon.
All I know about the car was that it built at the Dandenong factory & the person I bought it off (in tassie) only had it for 12 months & the person he bought it from was the 2nd owner.
I will try to make it to the Heathcote drags on the 18th March as I'd love to catch up with the you people & put a face to all the names.
I'm trying to chase down as much info & history on this car as possible & if anyone can help that would be great. The following info I got off the car's plates & the letter from GMH.
