I agree with LJ355!

Get an 8 with the active fuel management! You'll have twice the power and the same fuel bill!

Yeah i have a red 60th anniv. SV6 6 speed man. Its a great ute and dont regret buying.
Only bought the V6 due to insurance cost, so it was either V6 and Torana or V8 and no torana. I think i made the right decision.

Wouldnt go with the 6 unless there was a real reason to have to.
When I got my SS Sedan, a fella I worked with got a SV6.
He isnt a revhead. I am. My fuel usage was nearly 4l/100 less than him.
Nice to have the extra grunt, 260 rwkW, and I have an awesome exhaust note too.

Cheers still tossing up sorta was leaning towards a 6 cause having 2 v8's might get costly then a v8 would tow better then the 6 i figure the way it is atm best time to buy a new car cause they r desperate to sell can wheel and deal abit

I also know its best to change the oil on these every 5000kms got one at work atm engine is filled with crud from lack of servicing done under 100 000kms

15000k service interval but 8.3 litres of oil.
Some very qualified people told me it isnt good to change oil more frequently than recommended.
Can actually cause more wear that way.

Yeah but it dosent look very good inside this motor in my opinion every 8000-10000 would be best like all commodore v6's they r prone to crudding up as they say

Whats the diff between the ss and ssv and has anyone towed with one

Main differences iv noticed is different wheels, little V badge, and a larger LCD screen on the dash panel. But theres probably more.

Only towed with my sedan. Had the LX on the trailer. Dont think cost would be an issue in running between 6 and 8, 8 possibly cheaper.
SSV gets standard leather. Climate control in sedan, dunno about ute. Projector Headlights. Better sound system with screen.

Thats my economy with V8 towing the LX

As has been said, forget about the 6. And as for the 2 V8's being a bit much, all I can say is bah humbug.
Daily drivers for wife and I are VY SS sedan and VE SS ute.I got leather in the ute and don't miss any of the SSV extras that I had in the SSV sedan I had.

Hi, I have a 60th Anniversary SV6 Ute in manual. 195kw is enough for me. I have no trouble with it and it runs like a dream. Ive towed a vs ute around no issues. You get what you can afford. I get betwen 680 and 720 k's as a daily driver. I do 100k's a day just going to work everyday.
