SL/R 'smile'

Some here have called it the SL/R 'smile'.
Mine's an original SL/R but I can't see any evidence it was painted black. I also have a black bonnet but don't know if this was done by factory, dealer or buyer.

Which model, LH or LX? LX SL/R 5000 has no chrome, but LX S and SL/R does. All LH SL/R's have the smile, and on those babies, it is black from the rivet line back into the radiator opening, same as the LX's, body colour below.
The race wreck had a chrome smile, but I deleted it (LX S).

the chrome smiles!!!

LX
LX SL/R 5000 has no chrome
Nor blackout, from what I remember reading the blackout was only on the SL/R and not on 5000's? Would that be correct?
but LX S and SL/R does.
Not all have the chrome, mine doesn't even have the blackout so I'd say that the S wouldn't've had either? Unless it was an option or after certain date thing?

In that thread, I recall a debate on if it was black or body colour, and it had pics. I don't think my Alzheimer's is that bad yet!!!
Must be a happy website, did your realise how many threads have the word "smile" in them?

Are you sure that chrome is not black? I always thought it was.

From what I have read previously you had either a chrome strip, a blackout or both.
I think the blackout (both with or without chrome strip) was only on the SL/R's and not the 5000's
My question is were all SL/R's given the blackout and if not which ones as mine has no evidence of it though it is a genuine SL/R.

The problem with the LH/LX's is that the nose cone is readily replaceable. I could go in the attick in the shed, as I have four nose cones of various persuasions up there, including an LH nose cone with the T O R A N A that will get painted up this summer, so I'm interested in knowing as well.
Nice paint there Heath. You killing yourself with 2K or are you doing acrylic (I don't think it's much better). I's getting an industrial exhaust fan for my shed this summer - yay!!!

That's just acrylic. I don't have safety equipment for 2k, and I don't need to fill my street with 2k smog and get my neighbours to complain
I was discussing 2k vs. Acrylic with a mate today. I think Acrylic is a far inferior product, but it suits me better, at least for my current needs

8 pages of search results I think, you just have to narrow your search somehow so it comes up with less results then you'll see the older stuff. I also wonder if the 'smile.gif' emoticons are skewing the search resultsbut I can only go back 8 pages
Is this of any use? http://www.gmh-toran...pic=30671&st=25
