No updates since 2010, thats a real shame because the idea its self is brilliant i have always wondered if someone had done this or not.
There is no denying the enthusiasm of the guy and his ability to get as far as he did with it, i hope that if he still has it he will finish it one day and prove
all the doubters wrong. As far as structural integrity goes i am sure this a far more sound conversion than taking a 4 cylinder 2 door shell and welding it to a 6 cylinder front end, that just an accident waiting to happen ! As the price of two doors sky rockets i can see the demand for these types of conversions increasing as well. There might be a time where a company like Waddingtons start reproducing full doors, pillars, and even quarter panels for such a conversion maybe even a full body. No one imagined ten years ago that you would be able to order a brand new steel 57 Chev, Camaro or Mustang body but you can now.
Time will tell if there is a Torana equivelent !

Hi all I'm a newbie and thought I'd dredge up this old chestnut again. I'm thinking about converting my LJ 4 door sedan to a 2 door. I really like the idea of the back seat windows being able to be wound down not the push out type. And I like the look of the shorter front door line on the 4 door than the extended front doors of the coupe's. I've done a quick photoshop of my car to see how it looks if I just welded up the back doors and installed folding front seats and I like the look. But I'm not sure how kosher this is with the RTA/Engineers. Anyone know more on their requirements?

Hi Rob,
Should be OK if you are just welding the doors up, as the structural bits and pieces are still there.
Anyone know more on their requirements?
That is what I will do eventually, only having an extended rear push-out type side windows.
Click here, if you need help posting pictures.

A roll down rear window 'pillar-less' design would look awesome, but a short front door will look silly.

With the shorter 4dr front doors it will be harder for rear seat passengers to get in and out, even with the fold forward seats in a 2dr it can be difficult for some people.

If you want windup windows leave the doors there , hang them from the back and make them suicide doors .

Why bother with suicide doors, it still looks like a 4 dr and now you have to open the front door first to open the rear door.

Good Man Dave,
You are good at this stuff, and we only need the driver in these Machines in any case.
