ck1971.
Rocket Red changed a lot over the years so it's not that easy to get the right colour these days, I think it was pretty dark on the LC engines from memory.

No,The term red motor began with the EH, when first released the engines were painted a brownish red (One on the left) Hence the term red motor. When the HK was released the engine colour changed to a orange (One on the right) though still called a red motor even though it was orange........
Left 1963-1967 EH-HR (Red)
Right 1968-1979 HK-VB, LC-UC (Orange) 10890

Can anyone tell me what brand of engine paint and what they call the colour is best for a LC 2600motor?
Hi Crooner i have some old original painted red motors out at the shed and probably up to 73 will be home in 2 to 3 weeks will try to check them for you have a 308 or 253 still original aswell but at this stage i would have to agree with ck1971 i was probably going to mix some in two pack sikkens (ie the best) for durability resistent to heat petrol oils ect. for a couple of friends & myself let me know if your interested.Pretty sure vb onwards was the more orange but cant be cetain as yet head out to a old holden wrecker who still has some lurking my friend spend some time &paint it wright. Anyone know the correct colour code for the m20/m21 ??? Regards Grumpy xu1
