Im trying to get the correct Manifold/carbie/heater hose set-up for my 1976 LX slr5000 (pre27a), and Im hoping that the good people here can help me with some questions. The car had an aftermarket set-up (edelbrock performer) and im trying to get it back to more of an original set-up.

Firstly, this is what I have got- My inlet manifold is the in-correct one, I know what i need but after a lot of searching i still couldnt find the correct one (need#9929854) so im using one that I hope will do the job,(i dont really know but it had the similar ports) its number is 2823087

My carbie is a rochester quaddie # 7045281 with the numbers underneath those of 3425. I know this suits a LH slr5000 manual, but I have no idea if this is the correct one for the LX.
So..
1. Looking at the 1st photo, is my intended heater hose routing correct? The longer hose from the front of the engine is going to the bottom pipe in the firewall and the shorter to go to the top.
Ive had to cobble these up because of unavailabilty of new items (yet)

2. Looking at the second photos, is my carbie the correct one?
On the non-standard set up, the carbie was sitting on a wooden spacer plate, ive taken it off(correct?)
Is this where My front driver side vent pipe goes to? (pipe from rocker)
Where does the passenger side vent got to? (the rear rocker one)
And where does this go? Does it go to the cannister ( if so which port) or is it blocked off?
Can you buy new /2nd hand vent fittings? (go into the rocker cover)

I know this is a lot of information to ask and any info or comments (if you see anything else incorrect please let me know!!) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Doc,

#1.I believe the heater hose layout is the same for pre- poll LX and LH,which is the way you have it now.We just need
Mick(SS Torana) to make some for us.
#2.No spacer under carby is correct.(Did you say it was wooden? Now I've heard everything.LOL.)
Drivers side rocker grommet houses the PCV valve & dos go where you say.
Pass side rocker grommet has a pipe on an elbow to the side vent filter in air cleaner housing.
Small port (pass side front)carby goes to Vac advance on dissy.

Hope this helps start you off.
Stu

The wooden type gasket (don't know that it is wood but yeah looks like craftwood) is a thermal insulating gasket. Have one for Yella but it is no longer on it. Don't know if they were original, but were certainly used in their time. You could still buy these up till recently. Couldn't get a replacement last time I put the pre-pollution manifold on.

What numbers you got on that Rochester? I want to do the same carb. Currently a pollution type.

The other thing I'm curious about is that the ricers are going intercoolers, whereas these old manifolds are heating the incoming air? Which is best? Seems to be a contradiction.

Question mark (front right of your carby) is the vacuum advance line to the distributor.

Red im sending you a PM.

Anybody know if you can get the vent fittings (fit into rocker cover/ air cleaner )anywhere ????

It was a couple of years back, but i just walked into our local Holden dealer spare parts outlet, they looked them up in the book [or computer], then ordered them.
I don't know the part numbers, sorry.

Thanks guys, rares spares have them, holden do not. Also the only place that had the pcv valve filter (goes in the air cleaner ) was a very helpful bloke who runs an online store called Monaro muscle parts. He also has a few torana parts too.Even had the pre-formed front pcv hose with original clips. Had a nice chat with him. Much nicer than the un-helpful mongoloid at the holden spare parts desk.

I was hoping that this car being pre ADR 27a, it would be the same set up as 75 LH?

Arh har.... I see whats going on now!!!! Thank you!!! Thats another part I need to buy....

Now I just need to figure out the correct hose configuration for 75 LH Pre ADR27A.... Seems early LH was different to later LH??? Ive noticed that later Torana's have the oil filler cap on the drivers side, where as early Torana's have it on the passenger side???

Then pre/post ADR27A changes things with the hookup of the charcoal canister?

No luck with Monaro Muscle Parts, he basically has no LH stuff left....

Is this the correct PCV Valve for V8?

The filter itself? I have a brand new filter that came with my Air Filter Assy.
