Gday fellas, I was in the market for a Engine Hoist, and after looking for awhile they were much more expensive than I would have thought, with regulars about $299 at Supercheap etc, none in the classified either, so I decided to buy the materials and make my own, which will be dismantled and recycled to form my Rotisserie. So I got on the drawing board (MS Paint. ) and drew a design I liked.
I then went and got the Materials, (Got the nominal 8 metre length (75 x 75 x 3 RHS) and cut it to size, plus some 30 x 30 x 3 Angle for $150) and got stuck into it. It was good to run the welder in too.
All done. (Endless chain block cost $80 Supercheap bargain. Bolt cost $9.)
And the first trial to see if it would work.
As Borat would say "Big Success!"
So all up my Cheap hoist cost $180 plus wheels. And happy with it.
DIY Engine Hoist.

Another option would have been a boat winch if you dont like chains dangling over the car.
Top job

Nice.
Did that price include the block & tackle?
That front wheel is gonna have alot strain on it.

Yeah its only being used whilst the car is stripped. Thanks for the comments fellas. I opted for the chains, cos I can use it on a few different things, and I can adjust it while moving the Extractors out of the way.
Yeah full cost of the Hoist and gear.
The base should proportion it out pretty well. Wheels are good for 65kg each so they will be sweet.

That's correct judge. I highly doubt I could tip it if I wanted to.
