I am looking at fixing a few spots of evil rust on the C pillars that just refuse to cure themselves (even though they have been sitting around for many years with nothing better to do!)
I spied a repair panel on feebay that would appear to be the outer skin section (very dodgy photo even when enlarged)

has anyone tried one of these yet?
Possible to post a picture or 2 of how you did it?
hatches seem to be notorious for rusting here
I tried to search but wont let you search C pillar - not enough letters apparently
Thanks in advance

Have a look at my thread, page 6, i have used the rare spares repair sections. as stated in the thread they don't fit perfectly, a little modification is needed, better than trying to make one up from scratch. If you have rust in the section which holds the hatch rubber you are out of luck you will need to make up this section. Same with the inner panel which will probably be rusted out as well.

Sorry for old thread, i have a UC Hatch that neads rear pillars replacing. Are the Rare spares ones fine to use or is there a better fitting rust repair section from somebody else?

Looks like Rares one it is then, hope it fits better than the radiator support panels they make.

Me too, I'm going to pick up a pair next week probably so I can let you know. Was going to get them this week but they sold out over the weekend he said.

Doesn't look too bad, I also will cut them down as I only need to replace around 30cm. I also need to get the bit where the hatch rubber sits made up as I've removed that and it's too rusty on the inside.

So the bits with the holes drilled are they original or the made up bits. What was metal underneath like, I need to replace that as well, around 20cm up from the seem has seriously rusted, hardly any holes but major surface rust.

We had to make those pieces. The holes are for welding the 2 together.

I had to cut the whole section out and rebuild them, both sides.

Check some more picts out.

Thanks for pics Tintr,

Mines ok everywhere else including hatch rubber but lower pillars are no good. Im expecting rust under them like yours. Good to know other parts fit ok.

Iv got both c pillar sides on order just stocking up on parts.

I picked up a pair yesterday and they are pretty ordinary. Not sure why but the left and right are different down the bottom, the left one has a bit of a step in it. Also the fold on the hatch side is rounded where original is much sharper. If your replacing the whole pillar up to the roof they am be of some use but if just replacing the lower bit I suspect any panel beater would be able to make a piece better than these. I'll take some pictures and post them up.
