Pops missus's Hatch AKA Nans Hatch

We now have the wife's Hatch back from the panel beaters from getting the rust cut out and FINALLY have the 6 inch SS rims on with EH hubcaps and chrome dress trims.
Me thinks it looks fairly good even without a paint job.
Framed through the fork of a tree our pair looks good
This is the ol' girl at our 150 Years of Cootamundra celebrations last Saturday.
By ol' girl, I mean the Hatch
Paint job may take a while due to funds being a bit low but at least it is looking 1/2 decent
I still mean the Hatch
Regards .... Barry
PS Thanks to Rob (rob350hatch), Rob (Young) and evilbay for the rims

cheers sting
G'day Sting
That's Mandarin Red and I got my SS from John W at Silverdale near Warragamba (near the dam) in far west Sydney.
He would not give me any info on who had it before him, gave me a BS story about how the fella had damaged his legs when he bingled it in the front and some how he had bad dreams/memories and didn't want to be annoyed

.....gave me a BS story about how the fella had damaged his legs when he bingled it in the front and some how ....
Unfortunately, a common Torana story mate. Stories circulate about mine as well, but the panel beater has had a look and advises no such signs of any such accident!!! Some people just need to get a life.
Sorry, but the dress rims don't do it for me. Think your wife needs a nice set of 8" black and silver hotwires (you know you want to). Just my opinion, kill me later.

Well the missus's Hatch has been in the repair shop for its colour change of boring Chamois to Ultra Blue for about 3 weeks now but as it is a sponsor job, it is not top priority but here is the progress so far.
The price is right so there is no push 'n shove to get it done quicker
BTW ... The seats are in Wagga getting recovered.
I'm still after a set of HR Holden hubcaps to buy or can swap for a set of EH hubcaps that I have.
Better add to that I need a 6 inch x 13 inch rim for my SS as I had damaged one on our local u-beaut roads.

Something wrong with Torana hubcaps?
Probably not Col just as long as they are similar to the HR ones as I want to colour code the painted area around the lion and the extra ring outside of that.
The HR hubbies have that flat centre where as the EH ones we had on it came out too far in the centre so to me doesn't show the size of the 6 inch rim as it should be plus we were given the EH ones so they filled the gap for the time being.
I think I have one HB hubbie but that of course wouldn't fit. By memory I think it has gold or silver in the middle.
Should sue the local council for stuffing up my rim

Nothing wrong with chamois, you're boring

AND yes I do think Chamois is boring as too is white or cream or beige.
70's Toranas were known for their bright colours and besides that my missus loves Blue.
When we were looking for a 2nd hand VE Commode we wanted Red Passion which is a maroon colour.
Took us 3 months to find one, could have got a silver/white/black one within a week.
Good thing we all have varied tastes on colour and cars or it would be a boring world if we all had the same colour and same cars.

Thanks Dan but 7" would make it illegal especially on Historic Rego
care to expand on this barry?

care to expand on this barry?
Most car clubs that have cars on historic rego usually have the cars as per made and not modified.
Legally I can go 1 inch wider on the track so going 7 inch would widen my track by 2 inches which is illegal in NSW.
Legally I can go 6.5 inch rims.
If the rims were widened in as well as out then that would probably be OK.
Besides that I prefer my SS to be as per specs.
The only "extras" on my car are the tow-bar, under dash CD/AM-FM radio and a set of extractors.
Oops, I forgot the Kangaroo whislters on the front bumper bar

And your footer/avatar picture at the bottom of your posts would look pretty boring.
My missus is also a fan of the blue. Most of the walls in our house are blue, and if ever there are two options of colour, blue trumps everything.
She's even gone as far as claiming our two blue koi as her own.

Well there was movement at the station, oh well, there was movement today at the panel beaters and the ol' girl was finally in the spray booth
With a bit more to go and she looks like this
Black outs on sill panels and back have yet to be done and if no more rush jobs come into the workshop then it should be back together some time in about a week or a tad longer as there is a 4wd to be finished.
Front seats have been done and back seats will be finished this week

Will look great with some chrome thrown around!
As for the wheel issue (well not issue, just the wheels) you should be able to argue based off other hatch variants having wider wheels and different track widths? just a thought

This is how it is looking as of this arvo Feb 2
The black-outs will be done very soon and hatch, grill and bumpers replaced
AND the reason I like Ultra Blue is the same reason I like Mandarin Red
Mandarin Red is more red'ish in darker light like evening or shade and more orange'ish in lighter light like open sunlight
For Ultra Blue in darker ambient light it appears to be sea blue and in lighter ambient light it appears to be sky blue
Easily explained with this photo I took this arvo of Lynn's Hatch without a flash.
Top photo is with the big roller door down and Hatch looks the darker shade
Bottom photo is when the opened the roller door to put the cars in for the night.
The car appears to be a lighter shade and the shadow under the car is partly gone caused by the entering light.
Front seats are finished and backs will be done this weekend.
The black-outs will be changed at the tail-lights to be same as the SS

I wasn't sure about the blackout's at first but now I've seen a pic, I reckon you've made the right decision.
