made the rest of the brake lines for the diff today

also modified the park brake cable bracket to sit just under the calliper to get it to pull as straight as possible... it looks like it will work effectively but only time will tell

also checked the rear sway bar out for clearance to the new diff (it is the trailing arm bolt on type) looks like the it's going to hit on the 9' housing aslo looked at bringing it back a touch by redrilling the holes but it looks like will interfear with the factory pressed holes will have to have a think about that one.

started on the routing of the front brake lines the other day..looked like it was going to be a whole lot easier to sort it before i put the engine in for a trial

Posted Image

Posted Image

also ended up poping down to the the shop for a couple of more parts

Posted Image

today i set the k frame up for the motor to be put where it belongs

Posted Image

decided to do a bit more than was planed (at this time) and fitted the motor to the frame.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

while i was there i installed the tourque converter to the t350 and left it at that for this morn because i need a second person on the other side of the box to help with the line up.

had another bash at it this arvo between rests on the couch trying to fight the flu off.

mate poped over and lent me some extra mussle and got gearbox mounted up and trial fitted the exractors that shaun aka (fullnoise) made me. they were a tight fit...but made very well, hats off to him not much room to work with there.

spent a little bit of time yesterday eve fitting the starter motor needed some mods to clear extractors as sugested by shaun.
the starter is a hitachi, as seen in the picture is how it came out of the box..

the starter needed to be rotated 180 deg on the mounting block so that the solenoid faced down and also needed the right hand side (as you look at it on the bench) trimed up by about an inch so that it is flush with the block.

Posted Image

heres a pic of it once fitted (should have takn a couple as i was doing it)

Posted Image

got up this morn a decided to fit the the motor and gearbox to car (to check for clearances ect.) heres a couple of pics of the progress

Posted Image
car up

Posted Image

lining motor and gearbox up and slide under (rad support looking good hey looks like water likes that area)

i have talked to fellow forum members about fitting the engine this way and they said it was the easy way and they where not wrong one man and less than an hour. thanks for the tips guys this forum has made this project so far alot easier..

as for the clearance issues not any so far (lucky) , i measured the fire wall lip and give it a light trim before dropping the shell over as it was defiantly not going to clear the dizzy i think i will trim it a touch more so the leads off of the dizzy cant touch (on the passenger side drivers looks ok). going to have a look at the heater / fan box next and fit the diff to get a tail shaft measurment. and hopefuly the radiator rocks up in the post tomorrow.

diffs in, lifted the rear of the car over the top. haven't picked up any rims and tyres for the rear to roll around on yet so it prob made the job a little harder.
alot of up down to the side was going on but had a mate over and a few beers were involved, we got there though.

had a look at the heaterbox looks like it will clear might start giving it a clean up.

got the new rad from desert cooler the other day, no good sent it back...then went down to browns radiators as suggested by a mate of mine who had a good rap for them.
nice looking radiator and the fins on this one are not dented in (i think, they dont have a alloy shroud or fans but they move more air oh well) so i fitted it up and here it is sitting in its spot.

Do you have a transmission cooler in the radiator as well? If not then I would check with you transmission guy regarding just running the cooler on the front.

If you have a hi-stall then I doubt the cooler you have will be sufficient. At a minimum I think you will need a cooler with its own fan and controller.

Something like this.
