Hi Eric

1973 facia I think, they had additional light but as I recall no silver detail, unless someone else has done that

Car is looking awesome, well done

I have 3 tachos, all have 4 or 6 option on the back

Regards Simon

Great thanks Simon! ok, so it is out of an LJ? So what was the additional light? They have no lense things on them so I will have to take them off another one.

Yes, I did the silver edges when I fixed it up all them years ago..

Cheers mate.

Eric

Hi Eric,

Not really sure what the additional one was for, have only seen those facias in 73 cars. Good question , I'm sure someone on here would know.Maybe handbrake warning and brake warning ?

The facias I have are LC, they have no mount holes in lower part of facia.

Watching your thread on clutch as I am in middle of converting a car to a VB clutch cable set up and bell housing to suit.

Regards Simon

Sweet mate!! let me know how you go with that, always could do with a little help..

I hope someone can let us know what the extra light is. As far as the extra mount holes go, I was just going to plug them up and bolt the little hanger things from the old dash on the inside bottom and mount as normal.

Cheers

I hope someone can let us know what the extra light is. l.

Cheers

The 1973/74 LJ's have the handbrake/brake fail warning light at the top in the dash fascia. Where the warning light was at the bottom for the LC & 1972 LJ is blanked off with a piece of vinyl coated metal.

Hi all...

Been a busy week with easter and all... but, I have made some progress with the dash!!

I picked up my VDO gauges and have started to wire it all up...

Posted Image

The gauges dont look too out of place, I'm happy with them anyway..

Posted Image

I have started with the carpet as well.. I was a bit pis#@d off when I got the carpet out of the box... no bloody holes in it! No handbrake hole, no beading where it runs along the "B"pillars... more work for me!!

Anyone had that before? I got my carpet from Knox...

Hope you all had a great Easter!!

Cheers

Hi Eric,

Dash is coming up really well.

I believe most after market carpet comes that way, mine did from Knox.

Dash originals do the carpet weld for around the hand brake still as far as I know. Don't know any one else that does

Thanks Simon... It's becomes a pain when we now have to do the the work for it to fit... no matter, we will get there...

I finished wiring up the dash.... it all come up good. I'm trying to get hold of a loom plug now so when I need to take the dash out, its just one plug to undo..

Posted Image

And did a fit test as the gauges seem to be a bit deeper. Tight but all good.

Posted Image

It will be another couple of weeks before I get back to it again... will keep you posted.

Cheers

Hi all

It was a slow week this time round... waiting for stuff to be done or to arrive..

I sorted my console out, changed it from an auto to manual and it turned out pretty good..

Posted Image

Changed the accelerator pedal to an LJ type to save me cutting a hole in the new carpet..

Posted Image

I'm waiting for the carpet to be sewn around the handbrake and where it goes over the pillars and then I can finish that job off. Also waiting for the electrical plug to come so I can finish the wiring for the new dash...

Dropped a set of seatbelts off to seatbelt solutions so they should be done next time round ... and, still waiting for my new seat trims to arrive...

More pics then...

Cheers

Hi all..

Some of the stuff got done and arrived in the mail so that will move things on a little...

I was looking around for another parcel shelf and kick panels but decided to cover them with some left over vinal I had there... I think they turned out ok...

Posted Image

I picked up the carpet from the canvas place who did a bit of sewing around the hand brake and pillars for me and that worked out great!! I just unpicked the edging from the old carpet and got them to sew it on after I sorted the holes out..

Posted Image

Posted Image

I also picked up my seat belts from seatbelt solutions and they look great!! I got a set of rear belts done as well as they were not fitted from factory... the norm back in them wonderful days!!!
I'll put a blurb up under the "business" section and add to others there...

Posted Image

The only downer was the choice of colors.. yes, I could have gone with black but this color looks great I think... it's more of a saddle color but it all blends in great!!

The dash wiring loom plug arrived as well so it will be good to get that job done and dusted...

Posted Image

Seat trims are on their way so looking forward to that!

Will keep you posted..

Cheers

ok eric, two questions.

firstly where did you buy your gearshift inner rubber that mounts to the trans tunnel (rare spares)?

secondly, why does your grille look so nice!! im jelous, is it new or recond?

Hi Judge.. thanks...

Ok, the boot I got from Rare Parts in welshpool... It was a universal boot and it worked great... I'm sure rare spares should have something that will work... even auto 1 or the like...

As for the grill... it is in pretty good nick so I just re-sprayed the black and light surrounds, the painter sprayed the color in the middle when he had the car....

Cheers..
