Was there any differences between model nose cones? Mainly the lower apron where the airdam is fitted? I understand LH SLR had a two piece airdam and LX SLR had a one piece???

How does the number plate mount with the airdam fitted?

Was the brake duct area of the airdam different between one and two piece?

Unfortunatly I don't have a plastic airdam, ive got a fiberglass two piece. Ive got no idea if it has ever been fitted to the car? I tried putting it onto place yesterday and can't see a way in buggery that it will ever fit?

The number plate mount pieces foul, and the brake duct areas foul on the lower part of te apron panel.

Anyone got pics that could assist?

AFAIK, the only difference was holes in the nose cone above the grill for the T-O-R-A-N-A letters. The LX had a Torana sticker on the passenger side above the grill.

Well I have the holes for the badges so it's safe to say I've got an LH nose cone.

Are there different airdams available?

Early LH front blinkers are lower I think. Or higher. There's a difference anyway.

Yeah early LHs had the blinkers lower and the rest of the LH, LXs had them higher for ADR rules in 75

Is that the mount used for the number plate? So the two vertical tags used for te number plate mount that my nose cone has is not right for SLR? And that's why they are fouling the airdam?

hanra the two vertical tags need to be bent under the airdam or choppped off about an inch and a half so that visually the top of the tags remain
after the air dam is fitted.
i,ll send you a pic, mines original plastic airdam and number plate bracket.
bracket has elongated holes for attaching number plate.
think i saw orig lower mount lh nosecone , may have been on napesau build thread
hope you find this helpful.
will send email now

Brad , I'm pretty sure I have some pics of my number plate bracket I modded to clear the spoiler in my build. Check it out. Pretty sure it's the same as original.
Cheers

the low blinker LH fronts were the first few months only, so a 75 model should only have the high blinkers.

Im still confused as to whether or not I have an early or late LH Nose cone....

Im going to steal a pic from Napes here.....

If you notice the area around his indicators, there is sheet metal between the indicator hold and where the bumper mount goes through.

Posted Image

Where as on my car, the space from the indicator and to where the bumper goes through is all open, there is no sheet metal to seperate the two areas....?

Posted Image

So does that mean Napes front is early LH and mine is later?

Ok good one! Thanks for the pointers guys!!!!

Now I just have to figure out why the 2 piece airdam that I have seems like it has no chance of fitting.....

The brake duct parts seem to foul on the lower part of the apron panel...

The lower apron bolts go through the upper brake duct hole.

By the way you can see how the spoiler hugs the bottom of the blinker on the early fronts like the above pictures. The later fronts have a gap between the spoiler and bottom of the blinker like this:

Things are slowly starting to make sense. I see the lower apron bolt going through the brake duct there. Ill have to keep in mind I need space for the stainless trim piece to be fitted across the lower grille opening.

You don't have to chop off the old number plate tags, just bend them back.

The 'smile' stainless trim was only available on some models, the SL/R had the smile painted black I believe.

Yes you do have to remove the bolts where the brake duct holes are and refit them, the A9X came with the actual ducts I believe other models didn't?

Really?

I thought it was referred to as the SLR smile?
