Hi can anyone tell me the official weight of a V8 A9X Hatchback and also the front & rear track dimensions?

There seems to be a few figures around but I am trying to get to the source and unfortunately, Holden themselves can't help me.

Front and rear track is the same as L34. From memory, the rear track is 1443.2mm and the front is just over 1400mm. I have the actual figures here somewhere if nobody else posts them up first.

Info I have from Holden for L34 is F:1453 & R:1425. Unfortunately they don't have A9X records, they say.

If I can find some expert substantiation of your premise that the L34 & A9X are similar, it would make me very happy!

The L34 and A9X used the same sized and offset rims, same width diff (all LH - UC Toranas had the same width diff housing, including L34 and A9X) and same front discs.

the A9X had vented HJ front discs and discs on the rear..the L34 had solid front discs and rear drums

The L34 did have rear drums (HQ-WB size) and the same front discs as HQ-WB and A9X.

I thought the hatch was a little heavier than the 4 door...

According to Dr Terry's book "60 Years of Holden" the hatch is 64 kg lighter than the sedan.

This is from Dr Terry's book...

LX A9X Sedan:
Kerb Weight: 1308kg
Front Track: 1470mm
Rearr Track: 1443mm

LX A9X Hatchback:
Kerb Weight: 1242kg
Front Track: 1470mm
Rearr Track: 1443mm

cheers
Mick

Typo on the sedan weight in sstorana's post. Dr Terry's book lists 1306 kg.

The track, kerb weight, rims and tyres for the L34 are identical to the A9X according to Dr Terrys "60 Years of Holden" which backs up Chopper's statement.

LH L34 Sedan:
Kerb Weight: 1306 kg
Front Track: 1470mm
Rearr Track: 1443mm

According to my notes however Dr Terrys "45 Years of Holden" listed a different figure. I do not have a copy to confirm.

Track Front 57.2" (1452.88 mm) Source: "45 Years of Holden" Terry Bebbington and Michael Malik 1994 p 93 and 96.
Track Rear 56.1" (1424.94 mm) Source: "45 Years of Holden" Terry Bebbington and Michael Malik 1994 p 93 and 96.

Some other sources.

Track Rear 56.82" (1443.2 mm) Source: "Holden Torana Performance Handbook" by Eric Blair 1993 p 64 and 65.

Track Rear 57.1" (1450.3 mm) Source: Just Holdens Toranas collectors series. A9X edition pg 23

I thought the same thing, I seem to remember Brock talking about when the hatch came out everyone wanted one because it looked better but was not as strong as the sedan and slightly heavier, not that Brock has never been wrong before

The figures I have state a rear A9X and L34 track of 1443.2mm. I have done a fair bit of research and it appears those are the correct figures. Even if it is a little out, the simple fact is the front and rear track is the same for the L34 and A9X.
