Is it a Torana colour?
Barney doesn't wear a shirt so its nothing to do with the dinosaur.
Good luck with your search.

Fair enough Humphry B Bear never wore pants, but atleast he had a shirt and hat. And a tie. And hey you cant blame him, i hate wearing pants to.
Perhaps its the green part on Barney?? Looks similar to March 17??
Cheers.

Barneys Shirt is from a famous Story from the GMH Styling department, when the LJ Range was going to start, Barney the styling guy had a shirt on one day at work, at the styling department guys liked the shirt so much they named the new colour after barneys shirt- true story
Story I heard was similar to that.
It goes something like, Barney wore this bright Purple shirt to work and they liked the colour so much that they colour matched it and named the colour 'Barneys' Shirt'

The following is a quote from the OldHolden site - there may be some truth in it. I am guessing that it is capitals for a reason?
Cheers

"BARNEYS SHIRT IS NOT A MYTH THE COLOUR DOES EXIST THERE ARE TWO CARS THAT SURVIVE ONE IS A LJ XU1 AND THE OTHR A HQ GTS 350 COUPE THAT DID THE SHOW CIRCUIT IN 1972 IT IS AN ORIGINAL CAR BUILT BY THE STYLING DEPARTMENT AT GMH AND LATER REGISTERED IN MAY 1973. THE 2 CARS WERE BUILT AT THE SAME TIME JANUARY 72. THE COLOUR CAN BE BEST DESCRIBED AS A MIX OF PINK/ LILAC. BOTH CARS HAVE GMH EXPERIMENTAL PAINT CODES THAT ARE NOT LISTED IN ANY PAINT BOOKS THE ORIGINAL COLOUR WAS FOUND UNDER LAYERS OF OLD PAINT AND COLOUR MATCHED. BOTH CARS WILL UNDERGO A FULL RESTO"

Yes Bazza has the story correct. There is a colour chip in Torana Tough and a story about the LJ which was a Styling car. There is a pic of the HQ GTS 350 in my Monaro book but only the centre section. Sagman and others would like to find a pic of the GTS and LJ XU-1 painted in "Barney's Shirt" at a Motor Show or just anywhere .
Looking forward to visiting Busselton in Sept.

The paint code is 568-1155-113-1A and no it does not appear in any paint books , commercial or gmh internal colour show books.
I f you go to the smp register there is a pic that has been posted showing brock , tate and 28c , if you look between them you will see a partial roof of a car.
That colour is Barney's Shirt , not smp as first thought . oh by the way that paint code has featured in discussion on the forum before.

Here is Barneys Shirt LJ XU-1, The Styling V8 Car at Holden's Engineering Roof Top turn table in 1972, i have had this photo from late 1980's, it was called the V8 Styling Car as Leo put the spoiler kit on it that could of been on the V8 LJ production cars, but engineering knocked the spoiler kit back, cause there was only 200 cars been made so the cost factor knocked it back.
Here is a colour pic of the Styling V8 Car in colour
