Hi Les, Its great to see that Rares have remade the switch panel for the SS hatch, I'm assuming that this is an oversight, but is it possible to get it made closer to the original? Below I have photos of Rares reproduction and my crappy worn out old one, but you can see the difference between the two.
I don't think it would take much to modify it to look the same.
PS: this aint a whinge, just a request. :-)

No worries Les, your first link (same as the photo I have above) is very close to the original, and I'm sure there was only two versions for the SS.

The 1976 version, that is my crapy looking one up there. ΔΔ

Your second link is the 1977 version, or A9X version, I'm sure you have it spot on with that one.

Thanks for the responce Les, looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Cheers Paul.

Les,

I see that, if the Rares '76 switch panel is not cut to take the rocker switches, it will look different to Pauls original switch panel.
Looks like original '76 panel has a recessed grain centre with a plastic crome edge within the rectangle switch cut-out.
If someone wanted to install all 3 rocker switches to the Rares 76 panel, it would look correct but most hatches didn't have all 3 rocker switches.

Looking at Pauls photo again, the 3 switch rectangles, edging may not be chromed & just a camera flash reflection. Someone might be able to confirm.

Mick

That's what ours was suppose to look like, I do not know what happened with the production but it is being fixed now . The next batch will be correct in the mean time we have had requests for the incorrect one even when people know it is wrong.

Look forward to seeing the new panels!

Mick,

you are aware that there was 3 types between LH-LX? UC was different again. It all had something to do with the retaining clip/wire.

Yeah, but only two types in LX, LH did not have these at all and UC was a different console all together.

Sorry Paul, I should have made myself clearer. I was refering to the steering rack dust boots.

Hey Tony

in the parts catalogues for LH, LX and UC they only list one part number. That being VS12436.

what can you tell me about the others??

Mick
There is only one number in the parts book but being a VS number they may and possibly will vary from model to model even within the same model. VS means vender supply sometimes the supplier may change the part to another similar part with the same specifications but visually different if the run out of stock of the original part.

We carry these boots VS12436 at $16.50 each
