Hey guys n gals, i am picking up my torana wednesday and will be doing a full resto on her. Bare metal respray and new interior. I will be keeping the current running gear and 308 for the time being. Colour will be original inside and out, no flares or bonnet protrusions will be going on. I am a total newby at this type of work so crossing my fingers.

Yep, all original at the moment and that is the colours I will be staying with. Just cannot wait to get my hands on it.

Also looking forward to any helpful hints and comments, being good or helpfully critical.

Good to see another local guy with a torana, When i got mine 20 odd years ago i was new to building or modifying cars game but you soon learn fast and now with this site there is plenty of info and help. Will keep an eye on this thread :spoton:

full resto hey, you will learn a lot along the way, heres a tip for ya, get your self a white board or 2 and and heap of them food zippy bags to put your nuts,bolts screws etc in and wright on the bag what part there off/from and it makes it a lot easyer when it comes time to putting it back together. i have done it this time round but before this build it all got chucked in tins and boxes.

Yeah thanks Lee, had already read through that thread and found it to be a great read, as most of Pauls stuff is. He certainly is a talented person. I will be pinching parts boxes from work to store and label parts in so I dont lose stuff or get it all mixed up

Well I am thinking I scored a bargain today. A bonnet for the LX without rust or any dings for a whopping $50. So did I do well :driving:

50 clams for a bonnet is good Jason if it is straight and rust free. nose cones, gaurds, doors, interiour bits are were you pain the coin but the members here are always very willing to help out thats for sure.

Tigers all the way. And Bombers in AFL as I used to play for the Kiama Bombers when in high school.

Itchy doesn't even come close Lee, Asgard are stuffing us around royally at the moment. Could be up to another week before they get us our cash. But organising other ways at the moment so good chnce of picking it up tomoz but not holding my breath.

mate i really hope you get the coin tomorrow, we had the same kind of drama when i had to replace alison's VX SS with the VY SS. went to the bank told them we wanted some funds and got the old" sorry you have to give us 24 -48hrs for that sum of money" WTF?? its my money i put it in the bank and you have tell me i have to wait for it ?? pigs shit i do !!!! seen the manager in the end and guess what all of a sudden they had the funds. Made me fell like a bit of a dick as i had put a deposit on the car and told the bloke we would meet him in his lunch break the next day. That didnt happen and we ended up getting the car about 5:30 in the arvo. friggin dick head banks, they want ya money but when you want it back " oh no you can wait " :banghead:

Exactlt\y, but Asgard have sent the money to the wrong account or bank and are now telling us that it could be a week to get it back. WTF it is not our problem, just put the money in the correct account and then worry about getting the other back... dead head morons.
If this is the most hassle this car is going to give me then I am going to be a happy camper and will enjoy the journey. I was contemplating a plane ticket to Perth to personally "speak" to Asgard today
