Hi all

Just another question for the elect guru's..

I have changed a standard dash over to a GTR dash and am finishing the wiring loom now but didnt think about the GEN light!

The reason is I have changed the AMP gauge for a VOLT gauge when I replaced the gauges and I am wondering what to do with the GEN wire?

Does it serv a purpose or can I blank it off? Just looking at the wiring diagram it looks to come off the voltage reg to the light in the old standard dash, and on the GTR wiring diagram, its fed by a live. Will it effect the charging side of the system or anything else if I leave it off??

Any info or advice would be great!!

Cheers...

The light is required to start the alternator.

Ok thanks...

So, if I wire a light to my dash, one side being power as per the wiring diagram and the other to the reg it should work ok?

Yeah mate

Ok thanks...

Yes, the other side to the IND connection on the Alt. In some cases I have seen cars not turn off due to a back feed of 12v from the Alt through the IGN switch. Occasionally the need a diode fitted to allow current to flow one way.

Cool... thanks for that....

I just wired it up using the diagram...

That will learn me for changing the AMP gauge... I will use the top light space on the facia where the Brake Light is and fix a globe holder to it, looks like another dig through the parts bin.... It should turn out ok.

Cheers..
