Ok, so as it turns out, Im chasing a pair of these as my rocker covers are incorrect.

Im trying to determine exactly what is right and what isnt...

So far what I think is right...

Oil filler cap on the passenger side toward front of motor

No oil filler cap or hole on drivers side

PCV breather hole passenger side rear of motor

PCV breather hole drivers side front of motor

Engine wiring harness retaining tags on the inner facing side of the driver side rocker cover

Spark plug lead carrier mounting brackets.... now are they meant to be on top of the rocker cover as Ive seen some that appear to fit the bill but the brackets are on the outwards facing sides.

Ive taken some pics from Norm Darwins Torana Tough book of what appears to possibly be the correct rocker covers??

What Ive currently got which is totally ass about.. So if some one has a spare set they would like to sell I would be interested.

Yeah the spark plug carrier metal brackets are more on the outer sides... compared to being on the top side....

Why the fark did Holden vary something so commonly used over several models......

Brad,
I may be wrong but I think Jeff has got the correct rocker covers for the pre pollution LH/LX v8 engine bay. I'm sure the spark plug leed brackets are on the vertical outsides instead of the top. Another clue would be the engine wire harness tabs spot welded to the rockers as well.
Someone else may want to confirm on this.

Yeah who knows mate... Seems a bit of a mixed bag really.... I think it's whatever was in the parts bin at the time....??? I think I'll just be happy to get the oil cap on the passenger side, and wiring tags on the drivers side.

Sorry to those who's photos I've nicked...

The fella won't separate them, however he has now decided they were off an L34 and asked for another $50. $300 total. I happily declined.

Found these pics from 74 which shows the spark plug lead carrier brackets on top of the rocker cover.

I have a passenger side one in the shed as per your description. Not perfect as has a couple of small dents and the front loom holder is a bit squashed. Is surplus to current requirements. Will get you a photo when the wife returns with the camera tomorrow.

Thanks for that. If it has the loom holder on the passenger side, then it is incorrect. The loom holder tags are on the drivers side. Hard to remember all the little differences and discrepancies....

As seen here:

And as Dave kindly pointed out, I could swap my current passenger side one over to the drivers side, which would be correct:

I should add that on closer inspection it has "L34 race use only" etched on the inside. Came off a genuine bathurst winning HP 253 according to the bloke I bought it off. Their engine builder was such a genius they were not allowed to use a 308 to ensure parity.
Presumably worth giant dollars.

Wow!!!! You learn something new everyday!!!

Posts started to get separated a bit between this thread and my build thread, however

Thanks to a fellow forum member here, I may in fact have this situation under control.

I will learn more tomorrow, but at this stage I think I'm all good to go!!!
