Im in the process of putting back together my colum along with coffee pot and IGN barrel. For some un known reason I have taking basically 0 photos of the disassembly process.... The workshop manual shows bugger all info also...

Ive got labeled bags with all the bits in it... but it looks like Im missing the four bolts/screws that retain the coffee pot to the colum itself... I dont know why these are not in the "steering colum" box.... What do they look like??? Are they bolts or screws...?

Is there a trick to aligning the rack gear for the IGN barrel and IGN switch?

Ill have to take a pic of all the bits that I have and see if you can identify what goes where.

So cranky I didnt take pics of this..... what was I thinking????

The 4 coffee pot screws are about 70mm long & look like wood screws.

That's a relief to know Dave!!! Once I know what I'm looking for exactly I'll search through all my box's. I've also go another large tub full of random old bits/ pieces from this car so I'll dig through that also.... They have to be here somewhere....

G/day Brad

You've got the steering lock bolt facing down in the ignition rod and rack, it should point up the other way.
Also your steering lock bolt is missing a litle plastic sleeve that sits in the end of the spring and engages into the tab on the rack.
The circlip in your second pic has the tip broken off (shown separately in the bottom of your pic).
The flat spring in your last pic fits into the coffee pot where the ignition rack goes to keep the rack engaged with the nylon gear.

Brad, some pics for you.
In this pic you can see how the plastic sleeve/bush thing on the steering lock bolt enages into the tab on the rack bar and the tooth mesh relationship between the rack bar and gear. To the left in the pic is the plastic sleeve/bush removed from the lock bolt.

In this pic is the circlip and what the coffe pot screws look like.

Your a champ Dave, an absolute wealth of knowledge!!

Guess what....

In my random box of old/broken/various parts I found a plastic bag marked coffee pot....

Musta been swept up and shoved in there in a late night clean up...?

The bag contained these four screws, but unfortunately no plastic sleeves. I am pretty certain these were not there when I pulled this apart. So is there two sleeves? Upper and lower???

Here's another pic of my circlip also

No, just one sleeve, I just put another sleeve separately in the pic so you could see more easily what it looks like.

Ok, I can see that your circlip is OK. Looked like the end was broken of in your original pics. Should have put my glasses on I suppose. LOL.

+ 1 for Dave being a Legend.

This will help me put mine back together- and the detail of the cog is very descript, and the pic helps immensely.

Thank you Dave, and Brad

Righteo!!! Well my missing bit showed up in the mail today!!! Once again thanks to Dave (is there anything this man can't do?)

Got the colum all back together nicely. One more question... The upper plastic column shroud... One side has a kind of kicked up section towards the bottom of it. It's only on one half of the shroud. Does this go facing the under side of the dash...? Or facing toward the floor??

I was thinking perhaps this kicked up section is there to fit the profile under the dash? I guess if anyone out there has an LH or LX with a steering column, perhaps they could have a look how there shroud is fitted? Or even if it has this kicked up section???

Do'nt let looks deceive you, the shroud in question is busted, and held together with race tape.
I really should get another one, and will when the opportunity arises. But for now - it works.
I do'nt look at it when I am driving, so it is no big deal.

regards,Rod :)
