Hi

On the topic of OBD trouble codes, does anyone know what the following codes mean:

0200 read from engine light as 10,2,10,10
0173 read from engine light as 10,1,7,3

Now before you say go to the Just commodores site, been there, done that, useless !!!!!!!
Im looking for knowledge from the members here.

Thanks,
Archie

P0200 = Injector Circuit Malfunction
P0173 = Bank 2 Fuel Trim Malfunction

Thank you very much.

Mmmmmm! I suspect the gas conversion wiring may the issue.
I did this a long time ago but then just went away, seems to back now.

while we are playing the commodore game,

98 VT 3.8 V6, had some issues in the last couple weeks, have it running again but the Engine light and the trac-off light are now illuminated all the time.

Engine light can be electrical/ecu/other things? and the trac off light is meant to be drivetrain/trac sensor related?

anyone have a suggestion? throwing it on the scan tool this week, but just found it odd

Does it drive OK?

A friend's VX did something similar a few weeks back. He went to start the engine and it was winding over slowly; it started then stalled pretty much straight away and induced errors as a result (engine light, traction control). We put the battery on charge (and also added some Inox conditioner) and I cleared the errors with the Tech 2.

The faults have not come back so we're confident the faults were just erroneous from the poor start sequence.

Well the DFI module plug wasn't making good contact, which caused the car to stall a bunch of times and then refuse to start.

Pulled it apart and tightened up some of the pins and it appears to have fixed the problem.

So you might be right, the codes might be from that problem.

I pulled the battery for a couple hours, but I'm thinking it will need the scan tool to clear the codes (like you said)

fingers crossed its nothing more sinsister

The DTC will most likely still be stored in the ECU after battery disconnection but you shouldn't get the Engine & Traction Control warning lights unless the same DTC's are flagged again (or completely different DTC's arise).

Having the DTC's stored in the ECU shouldn't affect performance in anyway so there is really no need to clear them unless you're chasing a specific fault.

Now, back to the regular program!

Next question , which is bank 2?
The drivers side or the passengers side?

Bank 1 is always the side that cylinder no.1 is located.

Well i replaced the injectors today and that seems to have done the trick.
Take off is smooth, starting good.
Switched it to LPG and no backfiring, but I might wait a week before I replace the aircleaner box
which exploded due to the backfiring to be sure.

Thanks
