With the search function not working I hope I am not starting a new thread for a topic already up, couldnt find one....

Anyways I want to replace the headlights in my LX. Halogen or a descent sealed beam? I am trying to keep an original look.

All the halogen upgrade kits, with the integral park light, dont fit unless you butcher up the headlight mount bucket and then I think there will be issue rubbing on the rad support panel if you did this.

Are there any decent brands still available for these?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks for the links. Those methods all require modifying the buckets, which I have re-fitted after having them re-zinc'd. I am hesitant in pulling them out again and battling that stupid retaining spring again.

Only thing I can find are some cheapie looking chinese sealed beams (rare spares).

Does anyone know if  Hella still make a sealed beam? Doesnt seem to be in their online catalogue.

(search function is now back on line too I noticed, yay)

You definitely can still get sealed beam.  I had to get new headlights for my Mustang to get it registered and one blew after a week.  I had a Torana one lying around as a spare (I replaced them both when one blew) and it slotted straight in.

I think it's just a standard 7 inch ? globe but be sure to get one with the parking light window.

Yeah that little parking light is a problem. Have located a good auto-elec outlet close by so will be dropping by tomorrow to see what they can offer...

I got 2 H4 out of a Mitsubishi Pajero with out a park light in them.

Because they are metal back I carefully drilled a hole in the back of the light where I wanted the park light to go.

Then I didn't have to mode the radiator support panel

Decided to go with Hella H4 inserts and modified the buckets to suit.

Have modified a UC headlight harness to adapt to the LX as it has the correct H4 plugs on it. Just needed to modify the parker/indicator connections.

Just removed the back to open up the access, remembering the park light bulb and wiring needs to fit, Hella park light position is in a different position than Narva and the other cheapie Chinese units which dont fit unless you modify the rad support.

I bought my round domed lights off eBay for about $75 new which has the park light in them. To fit all I did was bend the park light prongs up and plugged them in 😀

Were they H4  halogen or sealed beams?
