Morning, does anyone know if this is unusual.

 

My LH appears to have never had a radio installed from factory.  

The rear parcel shelf and front kick panels have not been cut out for speakers and the dash has not been modified to fit one. The guy I bought the car from (2nd owner) said there was originally a factory "knock out" plate in the dash in place of the radio. Have kept an eye out for one of these for some time, but never seen one, does anyone know if they ever existed?

i believe it was a 'pocket' in the LH non radio dashes

 

I thought the blanking plates were for the hatch's

Wow havnt seen a parcel tray with no speaker cut out for a very long time
i know the lj torana had a plate but not sure on lh

Base model AM radio only had one speaker in the passenger side foot well and so rear parcel shelf would be untouched.

Same as my A9X, never ever had a radio fitted. There should be a coin tray in the dash. Radios were an option across the range in LH, even the SLR5000 didn't have them as standard fit.

Thanks guys, wondered about this for a while, looks like the tray was originally fitted
