Hi guys,
I'm about to send these manifolds and carbie off for works. Before I spend my hard earned on the wrong bits can anyone confirm they look right for a 73 GTR. Not worried about numbers, just looks and hose holes on manifold etc.
thanks
Marty

LC  GTR  used  the  2  barrel  carby  and  2  piece  exhaust  manifolds.

LJ  GTR  used  the  single  barrel  carby  as  pictured  and  also  used  the  single  outlet  exhaust  manifold  as  pictured.

Hope  this  helps.

Regards  LC870

Is there anything wrong with sand blasting. I think they'll sandblast the exhaust, then I have a cast iron heatproof paint to use. Looks very original.
Was also getting the carbie rebuilt. I think they can make the throat larger too, or something like that.

Hi Marty,

The intake manifold on a 73 GTR was different to a 72 GTR.

Once carby is removed off the intake, the diameter of the under side of carby was much bigger and so was the manifold too,i do think the carby that was on mine was a BVX-3 carby,i will ring up and check for you.

The GTR carby and manifold of a 72 is the same as a HQ.

The photo you put up marty your carby and manifold is a 72 HQ and 72 GTR.

Regards John.

Hi John.

My paperwork says that they changed from the BXUV-2 carby to the larger BXUV-3 carby on HQ & LJ 6-cyl motors in July/Aug 73. So prior to Jul 73, carbies & inlet manifolds will the same as 72 built cars.

Hi John, you learn something new everyday.  I think this is what the engine builder has suggested doing, boring out the carbie and manifold.

Cheers

Marty

Hi Marty,

This is the carbie it is a WW 2 barrel.

Before Ricky worked on the carbie he asked what was done to the motor and then he rebuilt it completely with new shafts, jets etc and tuned it to my motor.

He does amazing work as you can see. It was that good all I had to do was put it on the car adjust the mixtures it
started first time haven't had to do anything since then and it runs perfect.

Hope this helps you

Say hi to my mate Gino when you see him

Cheers Ronnie

^^^ The manifold and carby was changed for ADR 27. So look for a carb and inlet manifold from an original 202 LJ or HQ built after 30/09/1973.

An LH or HJ one will also do the job, they only differ slightly to allow for the cable throttle. The other specs remained the same.
