Hope someone can offer some suggestions. I have just about completed the conversion in my torana from a standard VN/P 304 injected engine set up to an injected 355 using a Harrop single plain manifold with injected throtle body set up mounted on it.  What I am trying to figure out is how I go about getting a bracket and linkage set up to suit the orignal T700 cable, to the new manifold set up.  Have tried googling but with no luck.

Anyone got any suggestions or done something similar?

Cheers,  Gerry

Some ideas?

Last pic is the VN V6 bracket. -cheap to get and cut up/modify...  Depending on the accel. cable, maybe unbolt the throttle butterfly plate and attach to your throttle body?

I like the look of the throttle / kickdown bracket on the bottom picture.  Where did that originate?

I have gone to EFI Hardward, which is my brand of set up, and asked them if they have something.

What is this like button Stuff???  This forum is getting too fancy for me :-)

On another note, made up my own bracket today and took the car for its first run since putting the new engine in.  The bracket seems to work but there are some teething things i need to get sorted. Not sure if I am getting the right ratio of accelerator to kickdown. Pretty much set it us at a standard setting but with a reasonable size stall fitted, the gearbox is all over the place at the moment.  Will play more tomorrow.

Bit hard to say at the moment mate. The trans is all over the place. The stall is making it hard to determine whether the trans is doing what it should.  But from what I can tell, it seems to have plenty of go so far.  Got a small leak from the big oil pump I got off Ned.  Think it is the sender though. Hopefully tomorrow I'll sort it out.

So still having probs with your brakes mate?  Sounds like an adjustment problem from the pedal to the booster. Bit hard to say though from what you have said. It is a process of working through things one thing at a time.  Start at the brake pedal and work your way to the back of the car. You could also leave the nipples undone over night and see if it gravity bleeds out the air.

Last fancy button I remember was where people could block other peoples posts. But that was a long time ago..

Is the trans shift kitted? What stall speed is the convertor rated at? From my experiences with 4L60s & 4L60Es, unless yours has been built up, it won't last long, especially with that engine. I destroyed four in my VR 5.0ltr ute, the last time it actually split the case, but then the engine was far from stock & I drove it like I stole it. My Mrs orchid car runs a fairly healthy EFI 304 as you know, good enough for a 14.1@98mph with her driving in full auto mode, it is backed by a factory stock 4L60 & the shift pattern is all over the place. The trans works sort of OK for normal driving, shifts into overdrive too early, but give it some stick (like we did at the drags) & it slips second gear. If it had your engine up front ( & it almost did ) the trans would've died long ago.

If you have a shift kit with higher pressures you need to make sure the TV cable is locked by additionally clamping it .The extra pressure will over ride the std TV lock system with out you realising it .The first sign will be flairing  tranny shifting and it will be RS before you realise it has shifted .The unit I set up had no high stall but was in  FJ 75 with 350 chev .You need to start somewhere with your TV crank dimensions  .Full throttle needs to be max on your TV cable .You need to have a peice of flat steel with multiple holes drilled along it about the same distance the throttle link is at .There  needs to be slight tension on the cable at idle .You will need to set it up on the road .Have it shifting into TC lock up at about 105 k's at cruising .If it shifts too early the cable needs to be pulled out further .Too late it is pulled too far out already . On the TPI there is a provision for the TV cable but I had to alter further away from the fullcrum (pivot)point it to give the trans a better shift when I flattened it .You have to go gently gently .If you spend the time it will be a good result .I locked the cable in place with a small fuel hose clamp and some hose when it was done .(2 trans later I found it was pulling past the locking mechanism ). Good luck

Good advice Bernie. MyT700 is stock as a rock.  I know it won't last but it has to do for now.  I have set the kickdown cable so that on fuill throttle, it is fully extended. So sounds like I have it right. I bought a fullcrum for the injection and it seems to work.  But as I couldn't drive the car today, not sure on how it will go.

So when you set the throttle cabel to full thrttle, do you push the locking tab in at the same time? I did and then lockef it.  Hope that is the right way?

Think my next T700 will be fully manual, as long at they can do it.

Matt, the stall is a 3500 TCI.  So will work well with the T700 being a yanky converter. And I ordered it without the lock up feature.  Tried to go for a run today but now the shifter won't select gears.  So maybe i have upset something with the kickdown cable....

Nothing like modifying cars from standard :-)

How did you go with your brakes?

No good, doesn't help with smart arses on this forum taking the piss when I was only asking for advice. I know better for next time not to bother. Anyhow, good luck with the tranny & hope you get to enjoy the new engine soon.
