Hi guys, got these three starters. The middle one is a Lucas and was on the 1972 red 139 when I got it. The other two were acquired with bits I bought. ygysaryq.jpg I've heard Lucas arn't as good as Bosch. The biggest one is Bosch and smallest I can't tell. Question- is the Bosch one correct for 73 GTR? ege3u9yz.jpguhaba3ap.jpgnyvahe3a.jpg. If you need any more pics of angles or measurements I can supply. Cheers. Marty.

Bosch is better. Probably harder to get parts for the Lucas than the Bosch anyway.

if you have a tighter motor or more compression, a Starter Motor with a bigger diameter has more torque, and uses more power to do the job

Hi

According to the parts catalogue, Bosch was the only starter specified for the the standard 202. It is part number 2815873 and was used on 202s right through to the LX.

Cheers

The starter on the left I think is off a gemini
The centre one is a starfire 4 starter
The starter on the right is the correct one for a 6 cylinder
The 6 cylinder engine ran either Bosch or Lucas, both where pretty well the same size and where .9 kW
In the days of old we used to make up a "high output" starter buy using the v8 armature and carcass and putting the 6 cylinder nose cone on it,this gave you 1.2 kW
Don't know that it made any difference though lol
As far as I know there wasn't any specific fitment of Bosch or Lucas, think it most likely who was cheapest at the time

You might struggle to fit the big Bosch if you have after market extractors fitted.
