What's the deal with this wire going through shaft? I don't remember seeing it on my fan motor but picked up another and it's got the wire. I would expect the fan blades to stay fixed with just the round clip pushed on. za8erate.jpg<br />Also one fan motor had a big o ring. Is this necesary? I don't think so when fitted to metal plate with foam. ena2e3e7.jpgejuza6yh.jpgO ring seems to get in the way of motor seating properly. Cheers Marty.

Hi Jtfenech, my guess is when new the fan is put on then the fine wire threaded through hole then clip fitted. When people remove fan then don't notice wire and it gets bent then chucked out. I don't think it's necesary. As of the o ring, that might be important to stop leakage? Air/coolant

hi that wire is there as a locator it is a guide to hold the fan in place,, you will notice if you look inside your fan hole,,, the upper clip holds the fan on.

i hope this is understandable
