Advice required on these questions.

The extra vinyl that came with my pre-made door cards (for door tops etc) is thicker than original. Is the thinner black long grain easily available?

The plastic plugs that fit in doors for metal clips on card to sit in, they don't fit in the holes of body for rear cards. What's the go here?

I was going to use contact adhesive, apply to body and vinyl, let it go tacky then stick vinyl down while smoothing out. Trim off excess. Sound right?

New vinyl was folded and has a crease, how can I remove?

Cheers

Marty

Try pinching the plugs when fitting them. The should be the same on all 4 doors.

Set the vynal in the correct spot * mark the door lock button hole. Use a wad punch to put a hole in the trim before fitting. That way it gives you a guidance point when fitting the trim.

Thanks Col, The door trim holes are larger than the rear body holes. My guess is don't use plastic plugs on rear cards.  This is a two door LJ by the way. Concerned that once they go in then won't come out without plastic plug.

Marty, from memory there are no plastic plugs used for the 2dr rear trims.

Can you use your original vinyl garnishes as templates to cut out the new ones?

Stretch the creases out as you glue the vinyl on??

Hi Dave, Just been thinking why plastic plugs for front and not back?  I reckon its to stop water rusting the clips. There is no plastic splash guard behind rear cards because water doesn't run down there, so plugs not required? What do reckon to that theory?

Yes, I'm using old garnishes for rough template. Just not sure about using this thicker vinyl? If thinner is available i will get some.

Can you iron the creases out of the vinyl before gluing on?

Not sure? Maybe someone here knows? Might have a play with the iron, start by doing the cloth side.

The Auto trimmers on here aren't sharing their knowledge.  C'mon guys, help me out. :-)

How to remove creases from vinyl?

Can you easily still get the thin long grain black material for door tops etc?

Thanks to those that have tried to help.

Cheers

Marty

Marty, I believe you can't get the exact same vinyl as the original however this headliner material is similar. SMS Fabrics here in Brissy used to sell it but I think they have closed down.
