Just for information Marty,
the 1969 one I have is identical to the bottom one,
except the tab at 9 o'clock is not there.

I have a 2/73 Adelaide car and the holes are about 2 1/2 inches across

So Brian yours is a 73 and you have the small bucket Hole (65mm). Do you have the park lights in headlights, if so, how would the plastic hood for park light fit/work? Thanks guys, we'll work this out eventually.
yep parkers in headlights, the plastic hood on mine at the widest point is 62mm across.
i`m not sure if all the 73s are the same or not as mine is a 73 body with 72 interior 40x, 72 colour and engine

The common as mud 7447111 headlight retaining ring [bucket] , number 3 in GASPOWERS illustration are fitted to HK,HT.HG,
LC,LJ 6 cylinder models and HQ that have 7 inch round headlights .

My gtr is 2/73 and are different again they have 2 notches top and bottom

Gene, after a bit of Googling the closest I can find to what looks like your headlamp bucket is the ones used in a 1981 Camaro.
