Hi Marc and welcome to the Forum.

H155445 is a Brissy build GTR that was completed on 8/03/1970 and was sold in September 1970 by Eagers at Newstead in Brisbane.  Possibly a company demonstrator?

As your GTR is a March 1970 build it would have left the Acacia Ridge plant with a Compliance plate affixed to the upper dash panel near the wiper motor.

If the chassis number is damaged forget it, you can't use it. You'll have to get a new number assigned by your State Police.

Adam, does condensing his request down to the important bits help in the translation?

Second Edition ADRs first came into effect on 1 January 1969, as this is a 3/70 model it must have a compliance plate fitted with ADR 4 (Seat Belts) and ADR 5A (Seat Belt Anchorage Points) listed.

The chassis number is printed on this plate.

You can still register these without an ADR plate but the car needs to have an original chassis number that dates it to a specific ADR period. Might still be do-able but might also mean some hoops to jump through.

I think you have nailed it there. Subtle though....

So you're saying he'll need to buy the other tag too?

He's under the impression the tags are for a 1969 GTR so I'm guessing the 3/70 dated Compliance Plate is long gone, probably with the original body shell.

hi Bully57....post some pics of the tags and the unreadable bit...might make it easier for someone to advise what's what.

p.s. SPack and the boys are normally pretty close to the money though....but pics do tell a thousand words

Hi

For what it's worth, Body Number 04958-B is also from March 1970

Cheers

Hi guys the paint code is for daytona bronze so my research that colour was only available in 69, a friend of mine has another 2 door shell and I was wondering if this the chassis number on his car would be from the same era , and something I could possibly use to build my car back up.front left of car was in a bad accident years ago , thats the reason why the numbers unreadable. .would need the jaws if life to recover. My mates car has the chassis number lco822ba , I think the last digit is an A, it looks like an upside down v

Daytona Bronze is correct for a March 1970 GTR. Your tags are March 1970 so you are missing the Compliance Plate which will have the Chassis number on it.

Hi

The 1969 colours commenced in 1969 and went through until July 1970 when the 1970 colours were introduced. Chassis Number LC0822B was very early in the LC production period and fits with Sept 1969.

Cheers

Bazza, I could be wrong but I think his mates GTR chassis number is LC08228A not 0822BA

Hi Dave

With the Chassis Number it doesn't matter. If it is LC08228A it could be either an Adelaide or Melbourne build regardless of the Chassis No. Either way it is Feb 1970.

Cheers

Well mate,  you've found the answer to your dilemma. Recover your original chassis number.
