I have bought a tailshaft loop off ebay and it appears way too big to fit under the torana . I was wondering if anyone could put up some pictures showing the best spot to fit a tailshaft loop. I'm pretty resigned to cutting the mounts down to fit but i'd like some ideas first please.

There's some extra pieces hanging off mine but hopefully you can still see something here:

Immediately in front of the seat mounting plate is a good spot, the floor is flat and it will sit against it nicely. But yes, you will have to cut a universal loop down to size. Cut the ends off the outriggers as they are far too long, and use them for the doubler plates on the inside. Also cut the two halves of the loop part a little shorter and tweak to fit nicely.

this picture is just what i'm looking for.  I didn't realise that I would need to trim down the loop itself.

Yeah the tunnel isn't tall enough and you don't want the bottom half hanging down too low either.

I've since fitted one to the rear half of the driveshaft, that was even more fun!

I've got a brand new tailshaft loop I'm going to offload for $30 pickup if anyone's interested. Bought it for my Torana but that is now gone. PM me if interested.

I couldn't see why I needed the top half . If the shaft lets go it won't be able to go far and the bottom half will do its job which is to stop the shaft hitting the ground.

Also to stop it punching a hole in the floor.

I can't see how it could punch a hole in the floor. and If it could I still couldn't see how the loop would stop it.  139_zpselo2jneg.jpg

Worst case scenario it certainly can go through the floor. If you're installing it to comply with any type of rule it will need to be 360 degree regardless anyway.

Yep "360 degree" tailshaft loop is standard requirement in the rule book for any sort of driving event.

The reason why it can easily punch a gape'n big hole through the floorpan is because the tailshaft is bolted to read end that's still spinning it faster than wheels are turning, So when the front uni lets go the front end of shaft starts to whip around, Thankfully with the "Loop" it can't go up or down, but without the top piece in place will make one hell of a noise right before punching through the tailshaft tunnel and into your cabin, It's at this time you'll soil your pants and won't be able to stop or pull over fast enough......
