Does anybody know if a trimatic adapter used to bolt a turbo automatic up to trimatic pattern 308 block, if it can be used also to bolt a trimatic up to a turbo pattern 304? Or what would be required to modify it to achieve this?

It will work with mods like changing out the locating dowels, drilling out threaded holes and threading others but best avoided at all costs. Better off getting the dude in west Sydney to redrill your block.

I think Craig at Torque Power offers a Trimatic to Chev Pattern Bell Housing, might be worth finding out about to compare costs vs the redrill.

I assume you keep dowels, bolts etc of one kit just swap over thick spacer plates if wanting quick fix..check with Dellow but would be steep pricing for two plates may as well by tp bellhousing.

Proper way would be get block redrilled or I'd prefer tp bellhousing & just change them over.

I think it is $275 for the block redrill. To use this on a TH to trimatic application the state of the top holes would have to be changed is top ones would need to be threaded and lower ones just below them opened up. Lower top holes would probably need to be countersunk too as bolt heads would probably interfere with the trimatic bellhousing.

Thanks for the responses. Fitting a trimatic is a short term solution to save $$$ until I can afford a turbo box. The rodshop says they have a seperate adapter to fit trimatic to turbo block so im considering purchasing this as a short term solution. They said they are a big seller and have never had any returned.

Probably as they all end up in the bin! I had one in a HJ Statesman and it kept breaking torque converter bolts.

Ive got a dellows turbo block to fit trimatic if sitting in garage if youre interested?

Can get tough full manual trimatics built these days 450-500hp capable easily enough & with cast alloy pan + tp bellhousing they help strengthen casing further.

I'll probably get trimatic with tp bellhousing next engine build.

avoid the adaptor plate idea either redrill the block or get a torque power bellhousing

I am using a Torque Power bellhousing (running a trimatic on a late model block) and for most part i like it. Personally i would rather redrill a block as the bell housings are not cheap (over $700)  I am using mine in a vl commodore and with the extractors im using i have had to cut out sections of the brand new bell housing as there is no other way the extractors will fit. This is also a known problem when using vn heads. From what i was told when i picked it up off him is that the bellhousing is to suit LS1 engines also so has provisions for a starter motor on either side of the engine. This section is where the bellhousing needs to be cut and modified. Overall im happy as it works but would i buy one again that i had to attack with a angle grinder? No! If Craig was too make them where the mods where not required or where the price was halved but needed mods i would buy one. If at the time i had more time and engine was not complete i would have had the block redrilled. If you still want one just ask if he has changed the design as i was told that he may change it where mods are not required. Like said overall its a good quality product, I just think the price tag is not justified when mods are required. Also when using the tp housing you can not use the original flex plate dust cover

So TP bellhousing more suited to ls1 engine & starter motor bolts straight up?

I've had to chop up  factory th700 bellhousings & th350 behind vn headed torana's for clearances but would not want to do that to $700 bellhousing lol

I drilled and tapped a turbo block to Tri/Aussie pattern years ago.
From what I remember it wasn't hard once I'd made up a template and figured it out.
I certainly never had a problem for the 3 or so years I ran that motor.

The guy that does them in Windsor NSW charges $275 and he does them as complete engines, short motors or block with crank installed. Just search for "ENGINE BLOCK PATTERN RE-DRILLS" on Ebay.

from what there website says it can be used on a tri pattern engine or a chev engine. Im positive it only said holden engine when i bought mine but i could be wrong. All i know is that when i spoke to craig on the phone he never mentioned anything about having to modify it to suit extractors and was told when i went to pick it up by one of his workers, Too me personally i found this a bit cheeky as he would know that there was a fair chance it would need to be modified and could of told me this over the phone, if i had known from the start i would have weighed up my options and would have tried to get the block re drilled. Anyways it's done now .
