Why don't you just run a coilover?

You would need to modify the diff to accept the shock part of the coil over and run a tiny spring. Where these are only 10mm deeper at the top, not many mods to make them work, just run a 1 inch to 2 inch lower spring with lots of adjustment. Almost stock looking.

looks like it would mess up the bump stop height

I recon that would be a good thing on a flared car, A9X's have a much longer bump stop, looks about the same length.

Disagree on the tiny spring comment. That spring is no bigger than that on my coilover, and with different rate springs size is irrelevant (as I am sure you are aware)

With all the mods done to Heaths rear end, and to his diff, the coilover setup would have actually simplified it, and combined all of the things he is trying to incorporate. All in all, in my opinion, would have been less work, less clutter and much simpler.

Again, just my opinion. His work is great and a real credit to him!!

I haven't found much information on coilovers in the rear of a Torana unless they are inboard for drag racing etc. If they go where the shock mounts go, you'd presumably need to add some more bracing that I have not added (yet) at least, and I think these would be likely to reduce wheel clearance (backspace) which is not something I want.

Not sure of the spring diameter of these things but they seem about the right design.

I agree that bump stops are an issue. I would like an adjustable bump stop too but I'm really not sure how to do all of this without it getting very complex. I would be interested in an off-the-shelf perch that incorporates all of the above, that I can just weld onto the axle tube.

You could use that system upside down and put it on the diff housing, and place the bump stop rubber on the end of the screw adjuster and I'm sure it would be as compact as A9X bump stop height. When I went to the site it said you can use 5 inch wide springs, which would be close to standard spec.

If there are readily available options for shorter springs in suitable rates (maybe Commodore IRS?) then it'd have to be worth a try.

Not sure why bump stops would need to be adjustable, just as long as they don't get in the way prematurely?

The bump stop would stay attached to the center spindle where the gold lock screw goes up or down.

These are for a 3.5" Spigot, cheap and simple. Can't find a distibutor in Aus

https://www.daymotor...e-spring-spacer

Just found these more locally: 3-1/8" Spigot

https://www.devilrac...d-spring-spacer

I should probably go and measure the spigot that Toranas actually use lol.

With the pigtails intact a Torana spring will be smaller than that, but you probably don't want to use a Torana spring or you're only going to be able to increase the height?
