Hi All,

Trying to figure out why the steering wheel boss is grinding down the end of the plastic shroud - even without the retaining nut done up as tight as it should be.

It also looks like the horn ring is rubbing on the indicator assembly in a few places as there's dielectric grease on the white plastic and indicator handle screw...

Anybody have any ideas what could be the cause??

Could somebody with an LC column and the wheel off please measure the following for me?

A is from the bearing clip to the end of the shaft

B is from the bottom of the taper on the shaft to the edge of the plastic shroud

C is from the bottom of the taper on the shaft to the end of the shaft

Thanks,

Jeff

You are missing the steering shaft upper bearing circlip, thrust washer and flat washer (some or all of the aforementioned)?

Thanks for the pointer Dave...

It turns out that I should have read the manual when I removed the bearing to repack and then re-assemble the shaft.  I put the washers / clips back on the way they came off which is obviously (now) wrong.... Wave & thrust washer were under the bearing... :fool:

This is what it should have looked like....

The wheel not fits without rubbing!
