Think that may be just the yellowing of the chrome.
By the look of it i don't believe for a second that its yellowed anodizing.
It is way too consistent and vibrant in colour for that.
A few dealers had a ""Norman May"" Limited Edition LJ release. It featured gold pinstriping, gold painted mag wheels ( Hustler style ) and the gold fuel cap emblem. Gold,Gold,Gold.... but seriously...I have no idea....but if it is gold like you say...then maybe someone did a batch of them?...same process as all those Camries and Lexus you see in Sydney and Melbourne with every last badge turned to gold. It also looks very factory.Only thing there, is that most of those cars are driven by people of Asian extraction....and I dont believe they are into Toranas as a rule?
I like the Norman May theory but i cannot find any information on such a car.
It also sounds quite possible somebody had it done to gold spec, but i have been told for 4 others that they have the same cap or have seen one in the flesh before.

I wonder if they are reproductions that weren't quite right?
Just an idea, I've never seen one.
is there a part number or other identifying marks on there anywhere?

Looks like it would be Gold Anodized.
