Hi gents.ive laid down 1 coat of por top coat
In window channel and was about to lay
down the second coat but thought id ask you
guys is when you lay the second down por
instructions say wait 4-6 hours or when
surface is tackythen lay down a mist of the
primer (epoxy) but ive heard others wait till
it cures lets say a week then light sand 320-
400 dry then epoxy..is the latter what i
should b doing.keen to hear your thoughts

Following the instructions will give a better bond.

Wet on wet > sanded and reapplied.

Sanded and reapplied may look slightly better... But you cant see it, so wow it.

rule of thumb when using POR 15 or KBS rust sealer... The more humid it is the faster it goes off... When it feels tacky and paint doesnt stick to your finger.. Its time for the next coat.. If painting with EPOTEC... a LIGHT dust.. dont go too heavy or it does a crazy crack thing.....

KBS goes off faster than the POR 15.....

or if u didnt do it wet on wet.. forget trying to sand it.. Its very hard.. and imposable to get into the drip rail area.

I tend to use some old sand/light pressure, about 45psi, and give the POR 15 a light blow over,just enough to take the shine off it. then paint with Epotec, making sure to give it a light dust as first coat... works for me..

Hi gents..Bomber.i agree that sanding it
Prior to second coat does make it look better
specially if put on too thick or get small
bubbles appearing i didnt get them doing
this little area ..i dont know why i got
them before as was on super thin.I gather its
to do with the weather?

The reason i asked this question is the weather is up the shit here.temps are between 10-17 deg atm and i can still sand it easily even up to a fortnight later but do have to use
180...
Like you said Mike spray lite coat of epoxy
when its tacky.but when can i full coat it
as full curing time is probably over a fortnight.
I want to put a nice wet coat on the scuttle before it starts rusting
Pic below was using scotch green 320 that
other one there little rougher scratched it
up easily.

24 hours for por 15 then coat all you want... temp is no prob.. Its the humidity that cures it..

Well i gave it a mist coat couple days ago.
Probably a little more than a mist in 2 areas
as got cracking in lines.but you could see
through it..
i started to sand those today and seemed soft
soo soft infact i could pick it off back to
metal with fingernail and thought wtf.

por wasnt on thick either as you get runs so frOcknose what happened maybe i didnt get
wax and greaser all off in metal prep.def
wasnt the sanding as used honey coomb
scotches on drill..to me i think its best
just to let it cure then sand cause its just frOcking around.long as its not left too only
took 5 mins to get off.

Not putting back as the epoxy is good enough
i think ive been too over cautious with this
build lol.its time i stopped frOcking around ☺..
