Would it be fair to say that LC (lucas motor) is wired differently to LJ (presslite motor)?

If so, are the switches the same?

Switches are same I thought between LC/LJ although some are the sealed unserviceable type .Pictured is the Preslite wiper motor ,I believe the plug sockets are different ,(hope I'm wrong on this because I swapped from Preslite to Lucas ) haven't connected mine up yet.

Don't worry Paul, the harness connector is the same for both wiper motors.

I believe the locating rib on the outside of the connector faces the brake booster when connected to a Lucas wiper motor, which is the reverse of the Preslite.

See pics, they are different. The locator is the shallow, not the rib, and it faces the firewall.

LC, 70 is Lucas, LJ (mine) is 4/72 Preslite.

I have a motor here from a UC which is also Preslite.

The wire colour orientation and locating shallow are correct for my LJ and I have had it working on the bench through my loom and switch.

The only difference is the yellow (power from fuse box) has a green wire piggy backed to it assuming this runs from the UC intermittent wiper switch.

Both Lucas and Preslite supplied wiper motors to GMH, and they were required to comply with Holden's existing wiring configuration, hence both the same.

This is also the case with Ford, who also had wipers supplied by Lucas and Preslite.

All wiper motors from Lucas and Preslite had the same plug and configuration for LC LJ LH LX UC HD HR HK HT HG HQ HJ HX HZ.

So you're saying that someone has moved the wires around in the LC plug as pictured above?

It certainly looks that way to me.

I have a few original test plugs and the configuration is the same on all.

The 12v+ (yellow) is always on the bottom right and the rest are negs for fast, slow and park.

Sometimes the socket on the motor is mounted upside down for whatever reason, but the loom plug is the same.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Agree ^^^

Same Preslite & Lucas wiper motors used on LC & LJ (not taking into consideration HB & TA) and there were no Lucas and Preslite specific wiring harnesses so the wiring configuration and connectors must be the same for both brands.

That's what I meant. The LC doesn't use the ridge to locate. It locates in the groove towards the firewall.

That is Lucas specific, not an LC or LJ thing.

Like I said earlier. The raised rib on the connector faces the brake booster on LC & LJ Lucas motors and towards the plenum on LC & LJ Preslite motors.

Marty's LJ Lucas wiper motor.

Right! Off to tackle this tomorrow with my loom, my switch, dammit! might even take my wiper motor!

I'll also take the UC motor and it's cut off loom! Battery, jumper leads and bridging gizmos! Shitloads of spare fuses!

...…………….I have the fire brigade on speed dial...….. :spoton:

Don't use that LC connector you posted a pic of, it is wired incorrectly. Easy to correct it though with a fine flat blade screwdriver. :)
