Hi gurus, just wondering if anyone can tell me the size and dimensions for a banjo axle?

Picture of attached axles. Not sure which ones I require for the banjo!

I noticed you got fine spline and course spline axle there.
So depending which diff center you got will depend which spline axles need to be fitted.

Also banjo were fitted to lots of different chassis so length will depend on which car the banjo is installed into.
generally one short and one longer per diff.

Banjo is equal lengths side to side.

In Holdens there is generally only 4 x banjo axles ignoring splines and the shorter ones used in UC with HZ rear disc setup (these technically aren’t out of a banjo though will bolt straight into a banjo).

HK-HG. All coarse spline with a roller bearing (like the furthest right in that picture).
LC-LJ. Roller bearing and mostly coarse spline other than those final months of XU1.
HQ-HZ. Tapered needle roller. Coarse early and fine spline late. WB 6cyl drum brake rear (not cab chassis) is the same.
LH-LX. Same as HQ but shorter and 4.25” PCD of course (except L34). UC drum brake rear the same, as mentioned disc brake ones get a bit funky (slightly shorter and have longer wheel studs).

So in that picture, if the fine spline ones with the tapered needle rollers are all the same length then they are most likely HX-WB 6cyl (not cab chassis). Check if the stud pattern is Early Holden (4.25” PCD) or later Holden/Statesman (4.75” PCD). If they are 4.25 they are fine spline LH-UC. I don’t think they are Torana though by that step down from the spline.

If the coarse spline tapered needle roller one is the same length as the fine spline ones it is HQ-HJ, PCD will confirm. If shorter it’ll be coarse spline LH-LX.

The coarse spline roller bearing one can only be HK-HG or LC-LJ. Length will give it up, HK-HG are close to HQ in length.

I didn’t bother due mainly to the bearings on all those axles bar one, and how long the one with the roller bearing looks to be. Plus my guess is the back 3 left are HX-HZ Holden, front 2 left are later Torana (or earlier 5.0L), the coarse spline tapered bearing HQ and the other coarse spline HK-HG maybe.

FB EK. Uniquely these run a lip seal inboard of the bearing, making the o ring effectively redundant as well as problematic in fitting to original FB EK axle housing. Bit of useless trivia.
Otherwise identical to at least FE to HR in length and bearing and flange position.

Measuring the length as shown in second photo will eliminate this type (702mm).ab46199681d0b833f471c46be62918a1.jpg3e064ef638da9cefc9df5884ed254fca.jpg
