I had the pleasure of sitting in the passenger seat with Rob Trubiani for a lap of the speed bowl last year. He is a ripper bloke, and at the time, was one of GMH's greatest ambassadors.
I really do feel for him, and yourself Matt, along with all of the other employees who have been made redundant by some American wanker. I don't think I will ever get over the closure of Holden.
Have you got any more photos or details of Nurburgring Ute V2? And do you know where it is now?
I don't have any more pics of the Ute (at the time they didn't want us sharing any info about it), we were lucky enough to have a camera onsite to take photos! I've been trying to ask the same questions lately about the car. It would have been an unsaleable car, so I'm guessing it was probably crushed. They use to give these cars away to race teams or the like (Like the Beat The Heat organizations) to use as race cars, but with the closure I don't think that's happening :(
I know that the original Nurburgring Ute is still in Holden's Heritage Collection, it'll most likely be loaned out to Museums etc around Australia
So Matt? What's next for GM in Aus?
Not sure mate, the GMSV thing will happen. No idea what cars etc they'll bring though or when it'll launch. The talk I've heard is the same as whats in the media, Silverados, Corvette and maybe GMCs? We're still working really closely with their aftersales department trying to keep that part of the business healthy. There's still over 1.2 Million registered Holden's on the road - so they've got a massive amount of customers to still look after.
