Lots of good advice guys.

So far, purchased alloy 5154 1.6mm, will handle 45 degree folds without stressing the fold.
Baffles (2 off) to be welded onto floor of tank. skid plates will be 5.00mm as will the mounting brackets (4 off). Will go with 2 holes in the tank, one for the intank fuel pump and the other for the OE Torana pick-up and fuel level sender.
ATM I can only make it 30mm shallower than the other brand, I am restricted by the height of the fuel pump assy.
Also, the extra plates welded to the sides of the tank where the mounting brackets are eventually mounted will be welded 180 degrees opposite to what I have seen. It will not be welded all the way across the bottom of the plate to allow any water to escape and prevent corrosion.
Not sure if there will be any noise or vibration eminating from the tank through the floor or the mounts when the pump is running.

Is there anyone out there with an intank fuel pump that can shed some light on this?

Thanks, Max

^ dunno, came with the car. At $950, unless you were after the experience, I'd personally just buy one of Brown Davis.

^ pretty sure it is just the adaptor out of the standard tank, welded in. They are held in by a metal clip, that locks into place, all as per standard tank.

No, due to the different location of the spare tyre well.

You could still do something, it would just be different. I'd suggest not going the offset look.

Is there any real point building one as they have to be engineered for new cars. Obviously if your car is already on the road thats different though. I know of a very competent welder who normally builds tinnies who will weld one if i can get it engineered.

Hi Guys, Just fitted a drop tank to an LX Hatch. This only comes with a short outlet , I suppose I need to fit my own filler neck, (The filler from the original Tank??) If so can anyone recommend a fuel safe hose and clamp system I can use to attach it?

Just use proper fuel filler neck hose...you can get it here (I still have a piece around I'd imagine) so would say getting it there should not be a huge drama. Comes in different diameters as well..

If the bathurst tanks were lovely alloy why are they black why did they go to the trouble of painting them (They only just painted the cars)brocks A9X is black i think it would make more sence that they made a outside casing in steal then put a fuel cell inside. is there anyone who has pictures and true confirmation of what was used. i can just see someone smaking him in the ass and the soft alloy and pissing fuel every were.

Hi Birch. I saved them years ago, but they are now on one of my many external hard drives. I wouldn't be able to even start searching for them any time soon.

These are the ones I saved from somewhere here. Be warned though this is a big tank (~120L) and will hang down quite low, you may want to revise the depth especially.

The tank I bought mostly pre-made for my own car is only 200mm deep in total and has a bit more taken off the bottom/rear to improve the rear departure angle. By my calculations its a little under 90L.

None of these leave a massive amount of clearance to the diff, and also generally need the rear strap mounts trimmed back too.

I made mine to the dimensions above (230 high) and i would agree its sit way to low under the car. Personally i think it doesnt suit the car. When i finally pull my finger out and get to rebuilding the car, i will be triming 30-50mm out to make it shorter.
