Such luxury.....

-- you get a clock, electrically heated rear window and radio!!!!

Unfortunately they are talking about the Toyota Corona SE there. You didn't get the heated rear window with the Plus 4 .....damn. So many factors to consider.

It's just a bit out of the mag in the back of your Spotlight Book, page 96. Sorry that it didn't come across that clearly.

See it but still black and white in my copy. A scan would be good for L8R. :D

Yeah, I've given up on the colour thing, none of it is in colour.

Lots of the swap meets have the old ad's for sale for like $2.00. Maybe we should visit some more swapmeets as a club in our daily drivers. <--- They is usually in colour.

G'day All

I have about 14 mags from 1969 to 1983 with adds, test drives for Torana etc in them so if we get a forum section just for this sort of material, I will put them up.

That range of mags sorts of let you know that I am interested in all models of our much loved Toranas but as most of you will know, I am biassed towards the LC  GTR

i suppose those with G paks are interested in authenticity? The very 1st pic showing one has bumper overiders on plain chrome bars(without the rubber strip) looks strange - did they come like that? (not knowing anything about G paks myself)
Interesting reference to the steering wheel in the add, "black as spades".............wonder if that would be used in today's environment

G-paks had chrome bumpers, no rubber strips, no over-riders. However, back way back then, everybody seemed to think bumper over-riders were cool as, hell I did. I now actually have a set, but they aint going on the car, I'm over them.

Steering wheel, interior, and instrumentation was all SL/R. It was a budget sports pack. Having said that, anybody know what the "G" stood for?

Go Pack mabye ---> G-Pak?? Or was it a secret Islamic plot way back in the 70's, short for Go Pakistan? Always wondered what it stood for.

Maybe it's just like the square lights on the LH, just some good drugs going round in the Marketing Dept. that particular day.

G-Pak stood for "General Options Pack", as they were all the options that people were getting for their Toranas at the time if they could afford it.

They are still only an "S" Torana, but with all the popular options.

I get lots of people calling it a "6-pack", because the "G" kinda looks like a 6, and it's powered by a 6 of course... definitely a G, though.

Cheers,
Jason.

I just went and had a look at a LH in Merrylands this morning that is for sale, its yellow in colour and has SLR interior, at first i thought it was a SLR 6, due to the interior and black outs on it.

I checked the plates it had the code they used for the G-Paks, which explains the interior being SLR style, i was going to buy it only for the interior as a few of you know i am having troubles finding a second hand interior and a retrim is my last option, the only thing that makes me doubt it is a G-Pak is that it was plated 11/74, i have been told that the G-Pak's didnt start till 75, am i right here?

It wasnt in too bad condition.

Yes the option wasn't released until Feb 1975 but i think it would be quite plauseable that they were being built in Nov 1974. Remember back in 1974/75 most large factories closed down for most of January.

Dad had a GPACK from when it was around 6 months old and sold it in the early to mid 80's for a (dare I say it) FORD, damn it. Here are a couple of pics.

Cool, my body number matches that code, and with a build date of 10/75 its in the window. Although there is no sign of the 3.3 and M20 and the front discs have been upgraded to HQ, there is full instrumentation and SLR style wheel. Can anyone confirm that the paint code 568-15949 was for yellow, cos the undercarriage is full of yellow overspray.

The previous owner did always claim it was a G-Pak, looks like he might have been right :D

Peace,

[B]I HAVE A TORANA G-PAK. My dad bought it for me about 12 weeks ago for $1200. It is in good condition. It had been sitting for 12 years in my dad's mates backyard. We got it running first go but the handbrake was on really tight and the knob had broken off. So my dad got a battery terminal and put it on the rod and released the handbrake. It is mandarin red with blue stripe. It has original wheels and hubs. has a small crack on the dash (but no biggy). Also the back shelf of the car has turned white due to the sun getting on it and the top of the back seat is also split pretty badly. We got a louvre for it for $20 and now the sun cant get on the back shelf. The motor runs sweat as not a awkward sound in it. Drivers seat is cracked were your bum goes. It has the sports steering wheel, tacho,M20 and 202. It had driving lights on it but we took them off because we thought they looked stupid. It has 18,670 original kilometres on it. I was getting annoyed about not finding anything so i wrote a letter to muscle car magazine and i hope they publish it in the next mag. If you could help me find more about the g-pak please email me [email protected]
I am 14 nearly 15 and it is a project for when i get my licence and to take to shows because my dad has a brock commodore white vk group 3 and we want to go in convoy to car shows. :D. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks G-PAK

Hi Guys.

Just thought I would put in my 2 cents worth about the G-Pak.

The model code for the G-Pak is 8VB69 which is the same as any other LH Torana S with a 6 or V8 engine, but the option number for the G-Pak is 'XV1', however only Brisbane cars will have this number on their body plate.

There were 2 production runs , the 1st was released on 12 Feb '75 & the 2nd on 5 Nov '75.

They only came in 3 colour combinations Absinth Yellow with Tuxedo Black stripes, Mandarin Red with Casino Blue stripes & Jamaica Lime with Jade Green stripes. The all came with L20/M20/GV4 which is 202 4-speed with a 3.36 diff. They all had carpets, front bucket seats & centre console, power front disc brakes & SL/R instruments although the dash facia remained the same standard black plastic as any another Torana S.

These are getting rare now & good complete unmolested ones are hard to find.

Dr Terry.

G'day G-PAK and welcome to

TORANA TERRA TORRIE

You have a great project car there and certainly a model that is scarce and will be a good investment. :D

Once you have your licence and have the car on the road, you will probably have one of the biggest smiles
in the neighbourhood when you are out cruising. :spoton:

There is plenty of help available here on the forums and to have a such a young enthusiast like yourself getting
involved with Toranas can only help in the growth of the Torana community :spoton:

Sounds like you and your dad are in for some great times together.

Regards......................................Barry.
